Excellent advice. Also on top of seizing the fox, there would be a huge fine. I think it's $5000.00 in North Carolina.

Rats have been domesticated. Foxes have not. I worked at an SPCA and we had a wolf hybrid sent in one day. We had him for a few weeks until we could arrange for him to be sent to a sanctuary. Even though he had been raised by humans his WHOLE LIFE and even though he had SOME dog in him, HE WAS STILL A WILD ANIMAL! Instincts are very strong! I would watch him tracking toddlers and any animal he thought he could "take down". He'd have a very intense "I'm gonna eat you." look on his face.

"Domesticated" wolves are known to attack people, kill smaller animals, etc.

Foxes are protected species in many areas.

It takes hundreds of generations of breeding to reduce non-domesticated instincts (like soiling carpets).

Or perhaps I'm wrong and some of you are just complete idiots for even considering such a thing. I don't know, I can never tell on these matters.

    and your point is?
i never said wolves or foxs were domesticated, to some people that is the attraction.
and taking hundreds of generations to domesticate is fine also. maybe if people were left alone to breed and keep as pets the animals they choose then a few hundred years from now were wouldnt e having this discussion.
just like the rats dogs cats and so on were once wild.

Why not just stealth feed the foxes in the area so you can watch them. THey are unstable animals, and pretty feline moreso than canine in behaviours.
But, foxes are wild animals that do not do well long term in captivity, no matter what it looks like through the fence.
