I prefer an IRA, so I can try to follow in the footsteps of Nicolas Darvas ("How I Made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market" and "Wall Street: The Other Las Vegas"). Take another look at the title of his second book—talk about anti-establishment, and this was very early 60's! He thumbed his nose at the pretentious market structure in much the same way as some writer on socialism (whose name I've forgotten over the years) ridiculed the solemnity people seem to display in banks!

I've maintained an IRA for quite some time now. In fact, I just got my 23 year old son's IRA started about four months ago. And,when he retires,it's estimated his account will be well into six figures. Say,can I post this fact in my Random Act's of Kindness thread?

    Blues from a Yupster

Well, I woke up this mornin'n' the Dow-Jones av'rage was down.
I tried to call my broker, but the mo-fo done skipped town.
If it wasn't for my CD's, wouldn't have no money around.

When the eagle flies on Friday, I contributes to my IRA.
There was some rockin' little issues that I wanted my broker to play.
Can't roll over my CD's - gotta hit 'em again today.

Well, my Brooks Bros. suit had a mothhole in the sleeve.
Now I'm out 70 bucks, cuz I sent it for a reweave.
    This economy's stupid - I might hafta up'n leave.

Y'know the market's so choppy, I don't know what stops to use.
'Fit was up to me, y'know that I would choose
T'rollover Bill Clinton, cuz George Dubya give me the blues.

    Money

    Money,get away
Get a good job with more pay and your O.K.
    Money it's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash

    New car,caviar,four star daydream,
Think I'll buy me a football team
    Money get back
I'm all right Jack keep your hands off my stack.
    Money it's a hit

Don't give me that do goody good bullshit
I'm in the hi-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet
    Money it's a crime

Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie
    Money so they say
Is the root of all evil today
But if you ask for a rise it's no surprise that they're
    giving none away

Hey man, if I had spent as much time in my active hippie days trading stocks as I did tripping and getting stoned, I'd have it made by now! :)

If you and I knew,in say,1970 what we know now. Bill Gates would be working for us and Dr.Spaceman would most likely be Ben & Jerry's most popular ice cream, instead of Cherry Garcia. And I would be married to my one and only true love Grace Slick.

If instead of the slow, boring computer science course I blew off at Penn State in 1968, I had then taken the "Computers in Chemistry" course I had in grad school, taught by a hippie hacker prof in 1976, that would be even more so the case!

If it goes to 6 figures, it could become $401K! (But how much is $403B? Twelve figures?)

Josh, you NEVER fail to amaze me. You have it exactly RIGHT! Our cars and computers don't mean shit! But, when our souls go foreward, we take the love of others with us.
That is how status is counted in the next plain. By how loved we are, and how we loved others.
    Even plantlife have souls.

OLD? 38 is OLD? Trade ya, amigo. I go barefoot a lot too (note: a lot is 2 words...you wouldn't say alittle, would you? Peace...) but the neighbors are convinced it's because I have bad foot problems (like odor) when they're confined. No, I'm kidding on that, but I do wear sandals most of the time.

True, deep, dark secrets? I can almost guarantee you're as vanilla as most. Unless you're into singletails and Shibari, of course.
