most are motion / infrared with 60 to 100 foot detection range like outside lights but better detection (usually)....the photobeam /laser ones are more expensive

my storage farm friend has one it sets a chime off in the house anytime someone walks or drives past a certain point on the farm

i want one too but im looking for something programmable that would only alert at set times like midnight to 6am

there are many cheaper ones out there i just posted that link as an idea

We had a major thunderstorm this morning... looked like a couple of inches. Partly sunny now and 70+ degrees.... Daffodils are starting to bloom, I've found a few crocus and the forsythia is starting to bud.

Ok....since I already posted about this, I should tell you guys how it ended but.....there is no way I can do it justice no matter how much of it I type out. I bet I have not laughed much or as hard in the last 5 years as I did today! I'll type the short version...hopefully.

Blinker fluid story.....so my kid didn't remember to ask the mechanic about it until the guy called today. I reminded him while he was on the phone. I heard my son mention it a couple of times and was trying to not laugh. Then they started talking about something else and he said "Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, yeah...well...if you think it needs fixed, fix it. I want to make sure the car is safe for me to drive". Finally, he gets off the phone and I couldn't take it anymore. I'm laughing so hard that I'm shedding tears (more details help here but being there helps more). He wasn't mad or anything but he basically said "Every person in that shop is laughing their asses off right now and I'm going to look like an idiot when I go pick my car up! But I'm going to tell them what a dick you are!!" There was a bunch of other stuff said but he was kind of laughing too.

So...all of that mostly dies down and we jumped in my truck to head out. After giving me a little more shit (and more laughs from me!)....he says (not shitting you guys at all) "Anyway, he replaced the belt and I told him to change the brake pads. There was also something else he needed to fix. It's going to be another $72. It was some kind of other belt.....I think it was a muffler belt?" Holy fucking shit!! I lost it. I had to stop the truck because I was dying with laughter. I couldn't even drive. He said "I suppose that's something else that doesn't exist?!" I couldn't answer him because I was laughing so hard.

That was so perfect! Well played, mechanic...well played!

It should be noted.....he specifically started the topic with "I've been told I should have you check the blinker fluid......etc". I know the mechanic and he had to know I put him up to that and he was with me at the time because the mechanic called my phone. My son had no idea. He said the mechanic sounded totally legit. He even checked the computer to see if he had a muffler belt in stock. When I dropped him off to pick up his car, I said "Hey...tell Kenny I said 'high five!!" :)

It's actually not a Thrush sticker... It's Clay Smith Cams, aka Mr Horsepower.

The STP stickers were on there when I got it and that's what started me thinking "Rat Rod"... That and the old black repaint that's showing it's age, non-stock engine, vintage tires, etc. If it were a car it would be a Rat Rod, so why not. I added the chrome stack exhaust but that's going to need more work.... sounds great though. It's a chrome tip mounted to a standard small engine muffler with an adapter from AutoZone. That's the black section.... The threads in the block are stripped though so I will need to concoct something better/different to keep it solid. Note the block of redwood on the belt guard holding it up... :D

This Tecumseh engine may not be totally stock, the guy I got the tractor from put this engine on the tractor, a Briggs would have been original, and said he got the engine from a guy who said it was off a mini bike. I was adjusting the carb today and wide open throttle sounds considerably higher RPM than standard engine... Thing has guts, I know that. Feels stronger than 5HP which it what it's rated at... It's an H50 (Horizontal shaft 5.0 horsepower) but the rest of the model number I can't find anywhere on the net.

It sure does haul firewood, whatever it is.

    Wood Rat...
