    That sucks...

There have been a few places I lived where usable stuff got stacked up on the side of the entry near the scales and it was free. I found a ladder once and as I was loading it in my van the dump worker came up and told me "Wait! Those guys just called... They didn't mean to toss that. The driver forgot to put it back on the truck" Some kid was told to take stuff to the dump before heading back to the yard and forgot to put the ladder back after unloading some scrap metal... He got fired for that one. And I missed out on a 20 foot ladder.

It happens. I read the industry accident reports every month and it makes me sad because every one of them could/should have been avoided. I've always been a stickler about safety but now that my own son is out there.....I'm having a bit of a hard time with it. Now I find myself being super sensitive about safety. I don't even like to watch him run a chipper. I'd love to see him take over one day but I honestly don't even know if I can watch him in the air. He's never been up there yet (for real work) and most of that is because I don't want to see it. On one hand....he probably should be trained by someone else. On the other hand, I don't want him trained by anyone besides me.

Use a really good knot and tie that trailer to a tree... Don't use it until it's fixed.

After much work today, I will be sleeping in my own house tonight for the first time in over 6 months. There is still plenty of work to do tomorrow but almost all of our stuff has been moved and a lot of it is where it belongs...a lot of it isn't. The house is not completely finished but I don't care at this point. I'm done busting peoples asses because now....the longer it takes for the little things to get done....the longer it is before they get paid.

I'm just glad to finally be back home and chilling out on my deck in my yard. The neighbor just invited us over to their fire. One of us is usually having a fire damn near every weekend in the warm months so things are starting to feel normal again. And I have some serious yard work to do!

    Cool, man...

But in comparison, you really don't know what "serious yard work" is... lol

Some of you might remember that I bought a bicycle from a pawn shop like a month ago so I didn't have to walk 3/4 of a mile from where I have to park to get to where I'm working right now.

Every time I need something fixed or replaced on the bike, the bike shops ask me to leave it overnight.

Homey don't play dat, I need it for work the next day.

So I'm learning how to do it myself.

Bike repair is not as easy as I thought, lol. I no longer wonder why they wanted me to leave it overnight.

I'm pretty sure I know what serious yard work is. ;) My "serious" yard work is a lot of raking, cleaning and getting the garden ready......but at the other end of the spectrum....we can easily knock out a few hundred removals in a day and make it look like they were never there.....not that we enjoy doing it. :)

I'll bet it doesn't take several days to mow your yard...

That depends. If I'm ambitious...no. But sometimes I break it up into three parts and do one each day. Then it's less effort every day but it takes longer. Funny thing....I used to try to keep on top of it and be one of the first on my block to mow. But at some point, I got busy and realized that if I'm the last one to mow....I still look like the first one to mow because everyone else's lawn is longer for a few days. I don't worry about it too much though. I mostly just want the yard to look clean and want to be respectful to my neighbors.

i have one neighbour that always waits way too long then mows in such a way that all the clipping end up on the sidewalk and roadway

I never say anything but that kind of irritates me when people do that. Is it so hard to mow the other direction so the grass blows into the lawn and gets mulched?

No, the McD's I work at is owned by a couple...the lil bossman I refer to is the owner's son. They have 3 McD's in town.

They are, however, concerned about "corporate" visiting, for some reason. lol From time to time, we will hear "corporate is coming", and "the store has to look in tip-top shape". At that point I just want to lay down in the floor and groan. If they weren't so dang torn up about me being ON THE FRONT and SMILING (bah humbug), I could make sure the lobby and whatever was in tip-top shape.

I asked about the check thing, and if I'll get 2 Monday...it seems to be the proverbial question with no answer. gad

I really hope I don't have to go to a bunch of trouble because I tend to get not very nice when I have to go to unnecessary trouble. Surely to God, this isn't the 1st time someone has lost or washed a check.

I was just poking fun at ya... but my lawn is several acres, like 3+ acres I guess, with very little straight line stuff, it's all trees and rocks interspersed throughout the grass. On top of that there are a few spaces, or fields, that need cut early spring/late fall. I've added to that with the taking back the area that has been farmed.

If mine gets too long there's no catching up with it... short of a brush hog. This has happened two years in a row. I've only lived here two years. (well almost... May of 2013 is when I bought it)
