I am on just under 4 acres as well.......I leave a section overgrown with dogwoods etc.....I mow about 3 acres.....could probably add more but I like a buffer of tall grass between me and the farmers fields

I could not sleep last nite....tossed and turned....roamed around...tried to watch tv...tried to listen to the radio....nada.....now i'm tired ;)

lastly....I never did understand when to say whom and when to say who

except when I saw the who

when I saw this in a coffee house that displays local artists...I immediately tjought it looked sexual

    does anyone else see it?

the artist does all her art with words, phrases, typesets ets....I will show you another later

I'm sure it isn't the first time a check has to be reissued but you may be well-advised to not go it there with both barrels blazing. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they are under no legal obligation to issue you another check at all. If they do, I bet they can charge you a fee for cancelling the first check (which their bank will charge them). So....a little more honey than vinegar may be appropriate. I know they are a shitty employer but their kind of doing you a favor to reissue the check at all. Good luck. :)

If I lived out of town and had that much of that kind of ground, I would say "Awesome! I have 3+ acres of natural prairie/timber!" I'm not mowing that shit. The animals can have it.

On that note, that back yard seems loaded with animals again this morning. How come ground squirrels get no respect? Luckily, they're fast because it seems like the chickens and regular squirrels are kind of mean to them.

I've always had direct deposit for paycheques, impossible to lose them :)

It finally looks like spring outside, most of the snow is gone, just some piles in the shaded areas.

Total I have 8.25 acres... The 3+ has "always" been mown and a lot of that was originally designed to be lawn/yard. The previous owner wasn't able to manage it so it started with it's "getting over grown" status. Leaving it go wild turns it into honeysuckle/burdock/thistle/honey locust and various other nasty shit which chokes out anything desirable... That includes the wooded areas. It's not meadow/wild flower/native grass nice stuff. It will take quite awhile and a lot of work to get it where it needs to be and some of it will always have to be "lawn". Just the front yard and fenced in back yard is over an acre.

The woods are choked with honeysuckle, a none native invasive bush that nobody feeds on, and that shit will harm larger trees by stealing nutrients and stop new understory trees from growing... Thus the huge brushing project I have staring me in the face. That needs to be done and maintained or the whole place goes to shit.

Japanese honeysuckle. Highly invasive. We have a bunch of it around here too. There are timbers that used to be awesome which now we can barely get through to get to the work. It's a desirable plant in Japan but the growing season is different and that keeps it in check. But the growing season here allows it to just explode. I don't even know what the answer is except to try to get it before it blossoms and spreads.

Last week, the guys on the service truck called and wanted a road cut through a private right-of-way to get to a transformer pole. I told them we just made a road through there a couple of years ago. But when I got there....sure enough...it was totally full of that Japanese honeysuckle.

if i had a yard of my own, i wouldn't waste it on a lawn. if some ordnance required me to have one, it wouldn't be my choice to live there.

everything is something something else can be made out of. the problem is having enough hidden space to corral it into, to keep it from uglifying the space and annoying the neighbors.

living in a city of course, means having to throw away literally tons of otherwise perfectly good packaging material.

one more thing i really don't like about them.

(yards are for g-gauge trains, ride on trains if you've got the acreage, decorative gardens, (cooking) herb gardens, and vegetable gardens. all of which could be creatively and pleasingly landscaped)

i installed a cheap little flashing led in my truck today...figure it might make the prowlers think twice about trying to rummage through my vehicles at night

if i could figure out a way to integrate a tazer into my door handle i would....but i know id end up probably giving myself a heart attack by forgetting to disarm it all the time

I told her Darth Vader has to stay there because the contractors didn't do a very good job on that wall so he's using The Force to hold the wall in place.

I've had that Darth Vader forever. I don't remember where or when I got it. It's probably bigger than it looks in that pic. So far...she hasn't taken him down yet. My son stopped in and I showed it to him. He said "That's pretty awesome, dad" in a way that kind of meant he was probably more amused that I was amused than he was at Vader.

When I was single (with custody of my two sons....fairly young at the time), my living room was a music room. Drums, keys, guitars, mics, etc. My kids thought I was the coolest dad ever. Our couch, tv, etc where in a smaller adjoining room.
