I'll be having a cold one at the brewery this evening. Damn me for having to take my daughter to dance twice a week right next to the brewery! :)

In the mean time, I better put this computer down and start unraveling the mess that this house is in from moving back. By myself, since my wife is at some dinner for some organization or another. I must say, she was quite stunning when she left. I'd rather stay home and do dishes than go do that shit.

Whew! Got out of the brewery just as people who were at that dinner were starting to arrive. Bullet dodged!!

Nah...I like them all but they all know I don't care for that stuff very much. If I'm there...it's either a really, really good cause or I'm there because my wife wanted me to be there. Something like the hospital foundation board dinner or some other shit like that is not what I consider a really good cause. They already have enough fucking money. If they knew what I really think about profiting from health care...they may not even invite me in the first place. The funny thing is...my wife thinks the same thing and shes been asked to be on that board. The board actually does raise money to cover the debts of the poorer people who can't pay (which I can respect) but I suspect the real interest is keeping those debts from being paid out of profits. These are all very nice people and some are good friends of mine but we do have the question of profit and everyone knows it.

For me...a good cause is my band playing the local music festival that benefits the food pantry every year. Everyone plays for free and we raise a decent amount of money with no profit involved at all.

OK, I'm here to end the woeful tale of the washed, disintegrated check...

After I kept asking (nicely) my lil bossman about it, he laughed and said I could ask him 1000 times but he couldn't do anything before 4:00 [IMG] But around 4 I did see him talk to someone....

He told me his sister would get a check (but it wasn't printed out on a computer with a "rubber stamped" signature), and take it to their mother to sign. Actually the whole check was all handwritten with an honest-to-God signature.

They did take out $35 for the "stop check" charge. Now if I could have produced the wet check, it might have (would have) been different. Heavy lint doesn't quality for proof of washing the check. lol

I say it would have been different because a co-worker did wash her check...and even though it wasn't "cashable", it wasn't lost (in the agitator in her washer) and she was able to produce it, so there was no reason for a stop check charge.

So, its all good...well, as good as its gonna get where I work. :)

    Oh yeah...and I'm not broke. :D

As long as I'm blogging....just got a semi-emergency call on my cell phone from another tree company. Massive Maple, split at the main crotch, looming over houses and unreachable with a bucket. They said it's very grave and they told the customer we were the only ones around here who could handle it. So...fuck! I do not want these kinds of jobs anymore. I don't want my guys in that situation. I don't want my son in that situation. We don't need this work. But on the other hand....someone really needs something done and if we don't do it, there isn't anyone else who will. The customer has a family and a house that they are probably very concerned about. I don't know why I sign us up for this shit. We already have to bail these guys out on another deal this month with some high voltage shit.

Good to hear that it worked out and you didn't have to go nuclear on them. :)

@ Rolling: Does Captain sort of guard the chickens?

Don't I remember you saying he would herd them or something if they got too far from where they are supposed to be?

yes he guards them and he will herd them back to their coop on command.....although he is still a bit rough with them when he is chasing them.......he wont make a move on them unless he hears me tell him too

he's really working out well....except for the muddy footprints

That sounds unreal...for both you (and your company, especially having a son that works with you!) and the people with the half fallen, split tree.

What in the world is there to do in that type of situation....well, even as I type that I know that you will have to go and inspect it before you know what to do.

Working around high voltage is definitely a :yikes: type of situation.

Bless you for the work you do.

I've heard enough to basically know what needs to be done. We'll figure out the finer points when we see it. It will be dangerous but nothing we haven't done countless times. I'll be the one in the air on this deal. I won't ask anyone else to go up on something like this. I'll do it myself.

sometimes i speak without making a sound, and sometimes people hear exactly what i say when i do.
i don't know if this is good or bad, but i do feel alien, as in e.t. alien, even if the body i was born in, was born on this earth in the usual way.
at least supposedly. it seems at any rate subject to the same human frailties as anyone else's.
