A Real Social Change

you know, all these movement, sometimes they get things done, but real perminent social chainge requires real perminent chainges in a culture's core values. those aren't made by any number of people wanting everyone ELSE to chainge something.

it has to begin with choosing what is most important to ourselves, each of us individualy.
understanding things like what priorities REALLY cause which probabilities and a to actualy chainge those we ourselves live by on that basis.

anything else is a romantic myth.

things are starting to happen, look at all the people that care enough to post on this forum. the conservative media is just downplaying all the going's ons of the hippies so that something like the 60's doesn't happen again that challenges the way that they think. all of us here are talking about how things need to change but what we should be thinking of is a way to start a cultural revolution.......any ideas? the internet?

People are afraid to fight for what they believe in. We got to stand up and start a union, and it's going to take one courageous, brave mother fucker to get a group going. It's got to be someone who is really dedicated to changing the world, to making the next big american revolution. And these people who join this group, have got to really believe in this shit and that's how an organization gets started. America is weak, and somebody has to take the first step to making America stronger. Maybe someone should start a post to gather all the people they can and form a strike.

That's true. I think that because the media singled out the people that were protesting and focused on them, and people it's a part of history that we all learn about today, it seems as though more people were involved than actually were. The majority were not - but enough were to get attention.

 

In the schools and the media we are all being brain washed to think a certain way, creativity is squashed and no one knows how to think for themselves! I face this problem every day and it’s frustrating. Every time someone is unique society decides that there’s something wrong with them. It drives me crazy when these kind of people are medicated without true reason.

Not no mention that this generation is just lazy…. I hear an entire high school full of people complaining all day but no one wants to do anything about it. It seems that we are defined by our misery.

i still attend high school, i'm not really there too much for the study - i'm usually protesting while getting 'booooo'ed at, or picking up everyone's rubbish, or asking people to pick up their rubbish, or making daisy chain's, or sitting in the sun reading self help books, or those you never hear about because they are full of truth that is being hidden, or asking people to justify their actions while i justify mine...
AND I LOVE THE FACE THAT; i'm being called a tree hugger.. or whenever i skip a day of school i come back and people ask 'DID YOU REALLY TIE YOURSELF TO A TREE YESTERDAY, AND THAT'S WHY YOU WEREN'T AT SCHOOL?' - even though the answer is 'no' .. i love that THAT is what people think i'm doing.. or, i will walk out of the building and i hear 'HIPPPIEEE' being screamed from the window.. or people calling me a freak or a weirdo
and then i love it even more when you get those people who say 'i respect what you are doing'

i dunnnno man. just keep doing whatever you can while you are 'waiting on the world to change' and you will realise by just doing what you can IS changing the world..
and if you all continue to do that
slowly and slowly.. but.. oh so fast at the same time - we will be together in the streets, being activists and having love-ins!

In finnland we have very much same in school as evrywere else but anyone ever heard of Steiner schools?
But big thing is that evry 19 year old finish man have to go to the army or civilservice(where you can be put to army) we can also chosoe jail (six months) but only five prosent choose civilservice or jail and most of peope are glad to go military.
And that's propably because we have so "victorious" and "justified" warhistory and peopel are allways affraid of Russia here. And you know fear makes hate and that i call racism.

Like a lot of people here said, people are lazy, apathetic, and scared. They just want to be left alone with their TV and toaster and don't want to see all the bad things that are happening; they'd much rather hide.
Something needs to happen... something BIG. A revolution... something that'll flip everything upside down and force people to wake up. I'm just not sure what that is, but I think whatever it is, its going to happen within the next four years or so.
I know there seems to be a lot more hate for liberal minded, free thinking people these days. I know I see it. Its so important to not let go of your principles and sell your soul. Be yourself, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Never conform, never obey.

don't get me wrong, if we had another 1960s i would be there
but nowadays too many people have become materialistic and self-sufficient to take the time out of their lives to just enjoy life anymore

i think the people forgot how much more valuable it was to be rich in heart than in pocket
and something has to happen to wake them up

 

As a survivor of the Revelution of the 60s, I have noticed that the youth of today are on a much more violent trip then we were back then.. We had Be-Ins, Love-Ins Peace Marches, Peacefull demenstration..Now days it seems like if it went to the streets that it would be all out war.. Don't get me wrong, we had some pretty ricus peeps 'fighting' for the cause. But lets face it.. the LEOs out numbered us and most of us were peacefull/pasifist and did not condone violence for themselves, but looked to the Warriors of the Revelution to protect them.. We have no more 'Champions" no one can tear themselves away from their computers long enough to to even think about anything unless it come across your screan.. They have no ambition to do their part.. not all, but most.. all I ever hear is.. we need to do this and we need to do that,, but nothing is getting done bc everyone is waiting for the next guy to do something.. Right now, we don't have to start anything bc the shit is fixen ta hit the fan anyway and it will be thrust upon everyone... The time for taking it to the streets is over.. now it the time to prepare yourselves for the upcoming events that are in place now... It doesn't matter if you are rainbow,hippie, or a cattle rancher, we will all be affected and we will all be involved. It will be in all our faces.. The strong will survive and will carry the weak home.
