But then you know what'll happen. Some idiot barefoot guy will come in, something drops on his foot, and then he'll sue saying "well you shouldn't have let me come in there barefoot in the first place!!" In the US of A, it's always someone else's fault.
I just want to add my two cents to this discussion. A good amount of the crap we barefooters experience is related to ignorance. Another large part of it is to due with that fact that (at least in the US) we are an overly litigated society. Far too many people refuse to accept responsibility for their actions and all too readily look to blame someone else when something bad happens or they do something totally stupid. Karen, thank you for the research you did. It supports what I have believed for years. Establishment owners, whether they be mom and pop or giant corporations, are only trying to protect themselves from senseless and unfounded litigation which could put them out of business. The best thing we barefooters can do is vote with our dollars and spend them in places that accept our bare feet and educate the ignorant when given the opportunity (ie shedding light on the non-existant health code and barefoot driving laws).
