I just really would love for people to find a way to live like they want.
And to wake up and see that consummerism, and the throw away attitude is hurting society so much.
We are doing the generations after us a disservice by not teaching them the basic skills we need to survive.
There seems to be far more takers than givers, and when its so out of balance...things begin to topple.
When you believe that having the latest model car is a great thing...and they have made them consistantly more difficult for the average person to do the simplest repairs on...is that truly advancing??
Bigger, brighter and more expensive is not always best.
Thats just one example...I could go on.

Don't even get me started on the lies behind the food they crank out....
Or the education system...
Or the bullshit with the war.....oil....race...homeland security....etc.

Things are changing, and I for one truly believe we need to get back to depending on ourselves for alot of things we grew up taking for granted.

I really hope that people will wise up and realize that there are those out there coming up with more and more ways to get your money.....from our goverment on down.

See....I do rant!!!hahahahaha

I gotta go with Gate on applauding the resourcefullness of recycling building materials, I did construction for a while, and I was also amazed at all the crap they throw away, and this is the stuff that goes into our land fills?

It is a throw away society, and what gets me is the packaging which is often as bulky or more so than the product that goes into it, it's obscene!

It's not about fixing things any more, it's about throwing them away and buying new because it's more "cost effective." I think we should adopt a system that's more like the Europeans, when you buy a product you pay a tax to cover the cost of recycling and/or disposal of that product up front, might make us a little more environmentally conscious as a society.

Seems like a plot to make us fat, dumb, and happy...and dependent. If we can't fix things ourselves, we're forced to buy into the system, yet another way to control the masses...but we needn't go there if we can learn to do it all ourselves...

Well now...I too keep the Abbie dreaM alive. I live it as I can.
Fuck this system.Abbie had a profound effect on me as a young street person in NYC. Back in 1970. I did what I had to do to survive and "steal this book" was a godsend.

You pretty much covered alot of my sentiments Voidy...I do what I can to get over on this system that has tried to get over on me and countless others.
I have not filed their fucking taxes in years..(one of the reasons I try to keep my trackable income on the LD)

I don't buy into it,,,and if they get that draft going again...My son will NOT join into the woOl over your eyes do good, feel good ,patriotic mumbo jumbo lie of a "war".

When they start telling the truth and the goverment gets back to being FOR the people...then I will recognize it...maybe.
Until then...I stay in the woods...WITH my guns.
I don't fuck with anyone...and expect the same.

I did not know the Abbie personally,,,I took what I could use and left the rest, and thank him for providing what he did for me.

Love Abbie He is the greatest,however the movie was awful,didnt really show the true Abbie.Steal this book has been like my bible,didja know that the how to send mail for free by putting the person your sending it to name in the return address and yours where the address goes still works!!! Ive done it many times Just be sure to change post offices often(LOL)!!great for sending small packages too!!

Hi Carol,
This is so true of the level women are put on. Not only did the women have to do all the work, but had to put up with clap, crabs and everyother thing their ole, mens were out doing.
Later the majority split the sheets and trhe women had to support the offspring by themselves or go on the system. I have two children from that era. Both diffrent fathers. I was married to them and recived no childsupport from either of them. We did without plenty but we always had love and each other. Nothing in life could have been harder to provide, and keep bright eyes shining.
But we live and learn, we choose our paths and draw what we may

HA! That may be one thing that's possibly improved over the years, gender rolls, though I s'pose it depends where you are and who you're with.

My lady is very independent and strong, and I wouldn't have it any other way. We had something delivered a while back, and the two delivery guys where whining 'cause they didn't wanna carry whatever it was around to the back of the house where we wanted it, so she said to the guy, "that's ok, I'll do it myself, I'm used to doing the work of two men." She told me the guys were stunned, and one of 'em got a look on his face like she'd kicked him in the groin...

 

Your right Mellow, and your lady sounds like my kind of woman ..but we had to fight tooth and nail for it, and if the truth were known, the fight aint over yet, there is still along way to go before the old saying 'It's a man's world' will be heard no more. I see it every day, being an independent thinker and putting myself on the front lines everyday.
We of the 60's broke the ground, but there are a lot of rows that need to be hoed yet
