I think you're referring to Allen Ginsbreg, not Abbie Hoffman. Ginsberg was a member of NAMBLA.

Abbie Hoffman was a lot o things but he was not a pedophile. He was a very chiasmic individual who had a lot of influence. I myself did not care much for the man. He was a major sexist and thought way too much of himself for my and others taste. However, their is no question that he was a master of street theater and a very creative individual. He also stood up for what he believed in and for his friends. Not the best man I ever met but a better man than I.

I was a kid when I got to meet him/ hear him speak to a crowd. I have to agree with this preception but I found him to be a great motivator. Yeah, everyone has some defects of character and looking around at so many sheeples I guess he had a bit of a good reason to have such a high opinion of himself at times. Aren't we all a mixed bag of good and bad points after all? Although he was a major influence on those times he was still merely a human being. At least he was busy trying to make some changes.

I used to tell people I was more of a Yippie than a Hippie but many in my age bracket have forgotten that terminology and the younger ones have never even heard it.
The three labels that started back then, hippie, yippie and yuppie. Yuppie was an offshoot from that as well, which seems to have been forgotten by most.

Well, well, well! Welcome Aaron (AKA Pieman)! How are things at 9 Bleecker? How is Dana? I remember you from the 60's-- I lived at 6 Bleecker-- A.J. Weberman lived one floor below me. I used to live at 25 Bleecker with Tom Ward, too. I don't know if you remember me-- I used to deliver the East Village Other every week with the circulation manager, Ron McDonald and I tended the back-issue office on Ave. A across from Tompkins Square Park. I had the old 1950 Chevy with no back seat and used to drive A.J all over the city to get his political pamphlets printed. My name is Burl, I think you and A.J and me ate breakfast a few times at the Polish diner at E. 10th and Ave. A. Or, maybe it was at the Great Jones Street Diner. Can't remember exactly-- too many years.

At any rate, good to know you're still kicking (or, should I say, throwing).

Voided37-- Nah, I ain't CIA, though I do have 2 Pennsylvania State Police baseball caps in camoflage-- my buddy who's a state trooper gave them to me-- he comes out to my over-grown farm to hunt deer. I wear them when I wish to safely go into the nearest big city-- like a safety badge, or something.

Yes, that's one thing I have a surfeit of-- tales! Someday I'll start another thread with one of them-- but not tonight.

Jack Kerouac used to call himself "The Memory Babe" because he had a steel-trap memory.

Well, if his "steel-trap" memory was a #4 Blake and Lamb wolf-trap, mine is a #6 Newhouse bear trap.

    ( Just a little red-neck hunter-trapper lingo there.)

What did you trap, VOIDED? I quit trapping 15 years ago, but up to that time I trapped muskrats, possums, skunks, minks, weasels, coons, red and grey foxes from the age of 10.

Now, coyotes have moved in, so I think I'll give it another whirl.

    AIN'T WE CRUEL!

I've spent as much time watching bambi as you've spent killing her why does that make me responsible for urban sprawl?Fur is murder, save it for jesse's hunting pages, they like treating animals inhumanly.Collecting assault weapons supports the war manufacturers.Sure you're allowed to stay in hippieland, you need some good karma. If you really want peace why push your killing platform?
