i was only pregnant for a total of 7 weeks before i terminated the pregnancy. but during that time i def felt different. infact even before i found out i was pregnant i just KNEW that i was.i cant explain how but i knew that the preg test was going to be positive. i even believe that i knew the night i concieved. i remember that night i thought to myself "i think i just got pregnant tonight" which was strange because i have never felt that before. later on when i told my boyfriend about it he said he had that same feeling that same night.

being pregnant i didnt feel like myself...i felt like a different me. i had a baby in my stomach an i was very aware of it.....its hard to explain what it felt like. my energy was changed.

RE: so every woman who doesnt want kids should steralize herself? i dont think so. what if she changes her mind later on in life?

Then she wouldn't be someone who "never wants children".

As for unplanned pregnancies, I have two children. Both were planned. I didn't rely on birth control other than abstinence for the vast majority of the time.

no women should have to say "i either will NEVER want or have kids or i will". me personally, i dont want kids and i dont forsee in the future that i will want them so as for right now i say that i never want children. but life isnt so black and white....things change and i will be surprised if i should change my mind one day but it is possible.

besides that...to expect every woman to go under such a heavy and permanant thing as sterilization is ridiculous. women wont do that to themselves. some will of course but not the majority.

I don't expect anyone to do anything.

You asked me what someone who NEVER wants children to do.

Now you're saying by "never" you mean "not right now".

So, say "not right now" not "never".

Men have a TENDENCY to make up their minds and do something. Women tend to dither and change their minds and well wait but...

as far as im concerned i NEVER want children. i never have and i dont expect that to ever change. so saying "maybe one day" is not exactly right...esp if a potential husband were to ask me if i wanted kids. to say "mabye one day" is sort of decieving. but i guess its that never say never thing. becasue i know thats its slightly possible (mabe even less than %1 ) that i will change my mind. so with that said sterilization is too permanant. its a great thing tho for those who feel %100 on it and arent intimidated by knowing that they will not have the option of chaning their mind. thats more important to me....having the option. plus i dont like to fuck with my natural body like that.....freaks me out.

OK, so you almost never want to have children.

You can do what you wish. As for me, I simply abstained.

    I will be sterlized soon.

im currently abstaining from any sex. getting pregnat right now would be a tragedy and i dont want to have to terminate two pregancys.
but i know i eventually one day i will be having sex again. i dont miss sex nearly as much as thought i would...actually i dont miss it at all so i guess abstaining works pretty well for me.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I have been pregnant four times, two of those pregnancies were lost, but I have an almost 6 year old and 2.5 year old twins that resulted from my two healthy pregnancies.

Anyway, I always knew when I was pregnant. I felt different immediately. It's a hard feeling to describe, but I know just what you're talking about.

I feel that there is a difference between pro-choice and pro-abortion, at least as I see it. The former is based on the theory that abortion is a necessary evil that should be performed only as a last resort as the alternative would have catastrophic consequences. The latter is based on the theory that abortion should be used as a form of birth control and should take place at any time that the woman feels it to be necessary, including the third tri-mester. Often times, someone of such persuasion believes that such a practice should be subsidized by others.

It was probably a good thing that you had the abortion that early. After eight weeks, complications are more likely to occur. FTR, there are methods besides surgery which can induce an abortion.

As far as my personal views, We should look for all avenues possible to offer alternatives, such as greater availability of birth control, adoption and so forth. Abortion shouldn't become illegal, but I would favor restrictions on third trimester and probably most second trimester procedures. I also feel that government subsidies should be rescinded.

I will add myself to the chorus of those who agre with you on this one. I believe that the catholic church-despite their many faults operates such shelters.

  12. as to the pro choice designation (not that either nomenclature is good)

I will first say that if a woman was impregnated in rape and wants an abortion, not only should it be legal, paid for by insurance, and easily accessible, but there should be nothing taboo about it

but the thing is in alternate cases (barring the person not having a choice or their choice being not within the realm of rational {and I don't mean she got drunk and decided to go screw a guy I mean too young, mentally retarded or otherwise seriously outside of control hampered} control) well, she had her choice, the guy had his choice too (in the cases where guys encourage abortion)

you don't have to have sex, you have a choice, a lot of people want to be called a responsible adult but don't want to actually realize that actions have repurcussions

this being said and knowing that there is a dreadful weakness in my argument I will further say that the birth control pill and all other forms of contraceptive should be freely available, sex education should be legitimate instead of abstinence only, beyond that though people should be held responsible for their descisions.....

of course I'm a horrible chauvanist for saying that women shouldn't have sex if they don't want a kid.....

and I hate men too for saying the same about them....

god I really do hate people don't I?

    I say YAY/NAY

It really depends on the circumstances I think.

I don't know how in depth I want to get with this considering many people are against it here, and also because I'm vegan, people like to write me off as a hypocrite for even considering it.

But I think for abortion to be banned is just as bad. It will just go back to coat hangers and quack doctors if that happens, and I'd at least rather see desperate women getting an abortion legally, and accurately.

Here's a question. Why would rape make it any different?

I think the real issue is... when having abortion as a legal thing, it's hard to draw a line between those women who are in desperate situations such as rape and those who simply had an OOPS. I think a lot of people who are pro-life understand that, and hate how girls will have sex without protection repeatedly and get pregnant and have an abortion as if it wasn't their fault for not using protection.

But, like I said... if it's illegal, it's illegal, and that would create a lot of chaos.

Birth control is NOT murder, and there is no REASON it should ever be illegal. The only reason, in my opinion, that that is an issue, is because of those who have different religions that are against it. But, you can NOT mix politics with religion, it gets rather sticky that way. There is supposed to be religious freedom, and if something like birth control were to be outlawed because of a religious issue, that would be very unfair to those who DON'T have those religious beliefs.

Some religions are even against condoms...well that's great, let's just spread the HIV around some more.

    Please.

I think that definition is like the ones you find for alcoholism and being a slut.

A slut - someone who has more sex than you

A drunk - someone who drinks more than you

People have a tendency to say that when it's them it's one thing but when it's others it 's something else.

I mean, look at Rush "drug addicts are moral failures" Limbaugh who admitted to an "illness" when he was investigated for pressuring his maid to get him oxycodone.

You're asking how that justifies murdering an unborn child aren't you?

Of course there isn't really any justification, but it's also not fair to a woman who never chose to have a baby, go through with it. It's not fair that even after something as traumatizing as a rape, that she would have to deal with the consequences of that rape for years after.

Say a 13 girl gets raped by a man, and gets pregnant, and it's illegal for her to have an abortion--- so she should have to fuck up her school career, and the whole bit, because of something that wasn't her fault? Horrible, even?

I know enough about rape to know, that if I had to deal with a child [especially because I never want children period, even if its with someone I love] and re-live that pain, I would probably kill myself before having to go through with the pregnancy even.

Apples etc. I'm not saying a think. I'm asking the poster to elaborate on his/her thoughts.

RE: Say a 13 girl gets raped by a man, and gets pregnant, and it's illegal for her to have an abortion--- so she should have to fuck up her school career, and the whole bit, because of something that wasn't her fault?

This argument makes whether or not abortion takes place not about the right of security of person of the woman, or the viability/personhood of the child, but "fault".

That's a dangerous place to tread because the religious fundies of all types tend to think pregnancy is punishment for sin.
