Totally, and like I said, I don't DISAGREE with you. I guess, just trying to raise other points. I'm NOT completely speaking for myself. I just know that the rest of the world isn't as responsible or careful as some of us here.

P.S. Do you have any knowledge on diaphragms? Are they reliable? And what are they made of? My issue is, I'm allergic to latex, but I'm also vegan. So it's either break out in a rash, or use lamb skin...something I'd rather not...use...

Okay, but should our public policy be one of excusing those not responsible?

To be honest I have no idea, I use condoms.....

agreed, but again personal choices and responsiblities come into play.

Again, I'm not against abortion on demand for any moral reasons.

    I'm an atheistic materialist.

I just think there's safer and more effective ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies and that more focus should be made on personal responsibility than an easy way out of a bad situation (not that abortion is an easy decision for most).

Definitey, and I never thought you were.

I was simply saying, before, that some people who are pro-life, also don't agree with birth control [aside from abortion] because of religion.

    I wasn't referring to you.

If it were up to some religions, I'd be getting pregnant like, every year. And, STDs would be all over the place, more so than they are now.

I'm not worried about condoms and such becoming illegal... I'm just saying, I hate that point of view, it makes me want to puke.

    No, it shouldn't.

I guess on this issue, I just don't really know WHERE I stand.

More or less, I like to explore all the details and sides of it. Maybe, someday I'll be able to say either or, but right now... both sides have good points.

I'm highly interested in the topic, because it's a big issue, and something that should matter to every human on the planet, as we all have the ability to reproduce, and should take it as a responsibility rather than ...whatever else many people take it as.

But, I guess it's just too hard for me to say yay or nay to abortion. I think I would have to be put in a desperate situation to tell you what I really think. But, hopefully I never will be in that situation, given I try to take responsibility and precautions.

Agreed, wow, not used to conversations like this resolving themselves peacefully! :)

"The christian resolution to find the world bad and ugly has made the world bad and ugly." -Nietzsche

I'm so tired of pro-life rhetoric...

I think everyone's goal is to lower the amount of unwanted pregnanies, they have an assbackward way of promoting their view.

As if who is on the supreme court is going to effect attitudes and feelings about abortion.

If everyone could discuss things like rationale people.... it'd be a whole different world.

    If only.:sunglasse

I'm pro-choice. I believe abortions should always be available for those in need.
    But I'm pro-choice.... not pro-abortion, know what i mean?

  12. because she didn't have a choice before hand

in virtually every other case she did

and if she raped a guy and got pregneant, no abortion for her, but he has no legal obligation whatsoever, shouldn't to begin with, but this should be concretly put somewhere....

    no. Abortion is murder.

That thing, the 'fetus' is a baby, and it already has all it's genes, all it's future developments encoded in it. Not just that, but that thing also has a spirit.

the moment the sperm hit the egg, G-d went *fooosh* and gave it a spirit and a destiny...

So what do you think about the day after pill? I'm asking considering you said this: the moment the sperm hit the egg, G-d went *fooosh* and gave it a spirit and a destiny..

[Side note: LIKE I SAID, you can NOT mix religion with politics. If you want to get political about abortion, I really think you need to find a reason, OTHER than god to back it up. Remember religious freedom?]

And props to Shane yesterday for helping me see the other side of it, WITHOUT using god as a reason. I have to say that was the best discussion I've ever had on here.

To each there own. That is why this is America; freedom of choice!!!! :) I personally never could do it but I wouldn't have a problem with someone who has/is going through it.

If we can't decide what to do with our own bodies, what the hell hope is there and what's the point. It's our basic right, take that and we have nothing in think.

RE: because she didn't have a choice before hand

So whether it's right or wrong is dependant entirely on what a woman chooses to do?

So the baby in question ISN'T being killed if it's a product of rape?

Keep in mind, all I'm doing is sharpening people's perceptions. I don't care either way.

This is also a problem that I have with some pro-life arguements. If you are saying that abortion is murder, then, wouldn't it be murder in every instance? How can there ever be an exception?

To the prolifers there are NO exceptions.

The prolifer will argue that if you say it's wrong unless she had no say in it, then that's not cogent.
