I for one am personaly agaisnt abortion. Mainly because the majority of the abortions being done are by women that use abortion as an excape from reality. This coming from the women that I have talked who've had it done. To me it is morally wrong, but people have different morals. There morals can't be used as a tool of debate on the issue.

And like most things, there are allways extenuating circumstances that can justify just about anything. IE: Walk a mile in ones shoes before you judge their decisions.

It is a woman's choice. It is her body. Men have no right to question a woman's decision on this issue.

 

Not even if it's their child that the woman is carrying. And you have the capability of providing for the mother untill the child is born, and the child afterwords? Even in that case, I wouldn't be able to stop the woman from making her dicision. But it would hurt me greatly if she didn't talk to me about it, and consider my feelings before going through with an abortion.

 

Yes I do believe that should be an option, there are some countries that have abortion banned except for, rape, fetal disorder and mother's health, and I think that's right.

However it's hard to push that through when here in Canada it's becoming more and more, either all or nothing idea. It's hard in Canada to push for anything with exceptions, like for example, I think human rights for murderers and rapists should be wavered, but then if that happens people will complain about the difference between a person who's made the " mistake " of murder and a person who's made the mistake of robbery, I mean my country is becoming more and more of a hippie land, did you know that Christmas trees this year aren't even allowed in shopping malls anymore because some municipalities have deemed Christmas trees too Christian and that it may offend other religions, that's why a lot of people in Canada are saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, it's fucked up here I tell you.

 

Perhaps, I should elaborate on this issue. Yes, both parties should discuss the issue. The male partner's opinion of course matters. This is a tough issue and any decisions should be arrived at on a mutual basis. However, the bottom line is this is her body.

Despite the statements of those who are opposed to abortion, no one arrives at the decision to have an abortion easily. Of course there is the random individual who does not give a shit does exist. However, this is an inconsequential number of women.

You state that human rights for murderers or rapists should be waived. What human rights should be waived? If the individual is has been convicted of such horrific crimes he/she has been imprisoned. The criminal still deserves food, water, a place to sleep, a life without torture for their imprisonment.

If you do not approve of abortion that is fine. Living in a free society means there will be laws & regulations that you as an individual disagree with. I'm not a religious person either but I believe that people shouldn't be offended by Christian symbols, because Christianity in Canada is the majority, I accept all religious symbols, why can't a jew for example accept a Christmas Tree in a shopping mall? Most Christians accept the giant Menorah outside of Siangogues and in Jewish communities. I think the whole " equality " thing is never going to happen and that trying to make it happen will just create more porblems.

I learned a while ago that there is no true freedom, freedom in North America is a word that is used to basically make people feel more comfortable, but do we have freedom of speech? Freedom of expression? It is strongly limited, do some research and you'll understand that you can be sued on nearly everything, we live in a hypocrisy and I realise that debates on abortion like the one here isn't going to do anything, but I also believe that we humans live our lives until we die and what we mainly do to pass the time ( at least in countries such as Canada and the U.S. ) is entertain and educate ourselves, and that's what I'm doing right now.

 

Maybe this is an issue where men should be nertual and Po-life and pro-choice women should fight out. Okay, that's exactly what I'm trying to do, studying the law is part of my life and I hate it how most laws are either this or that instead of being this, with exceptions.

 

Just to add something to this thread if it hasn't been said, there is no solid number but there has been roughly between 700 and 900 Million Abortions since 1920.
