I don't think that she said they bothered her. I think she is saying it isn't considerate for women who are trying to make a decision.
Oh beleive me the feeling is mutual. I wouldn't want to know someone who cannot back up what they are saying, and has the attitude of, "Well I know it, but I just don't feel like tellin". Those are opinion pages. As you said you can find tons of stories about women who regret theirs, but I asked you for cold hard facts, stats, figures that prove what you said: That most women do not regret having their abortion. So, once again, for the third time, can you back that up or were you lying? It's not that hard.
Why shouldn't they fully understand the consequences of this decision? If the pictures dissuade them from abortion, then they've been well served. If they're callous enough to shrug at the grisly violence of abortion, then the pictures shouldn't affect them.
the pictures on pro life sites seem biased. they want you to follow them even if it means being led by biased material.
I never claimed to be able to back it up with statistics. I said I could find stories of women who do not regret their abortions, and you could find stories of women who do just as easily. But going on my personal experience, which is really all I can judge from, the women I know who have had them do not regret them. My point was that pro-lifers need to realize that not everyone feels as they do - and some women aren't going to feel guilty about what they did, because they hold very different beliefs. And not religious ones, either; just general beliefs about abortion.
I guess I am callous, then. They don't bother me. I know what an aborted fetus looks like, whether natural or induced. But I am also compassionate enough to not toss them about in front of women who are very emotionally vulnerable. You want to show photos of what the fetus looks like in the womb? Fine. I wouldn't stop you. In fact, I would encourage it; a woman needs to learn what is going on in her body before she makes her decision. But those pictures of yours do not serve to educate, they are simply for shock value, nothing more, and that is the problem I have with them.
Really? Do you support state laws that require abortionists to provide this information to women before performing an abortion?
So long as it is presented in a completely factual and unbiased way, and the women is given a choice on whether or not she utilizes the information. (Example: given material to look over and someone to talk to about it, but not forced to, say, sit and watch a movie.) When I had mine, I was called in to see a counselor beforehand, who explained to me exactly what would happen and asked me if I would like to look over some information on the development of my pregnancy as well as discuss other options I had. I feel that is the best way to do things. Of course, none of this would stop the clinic protesters from trying to "educate" women themselves.
We've proposed modest legislation like this several times here in Oregon and had it pass through the legislature, only to be rabidly opposed by the NOW/NARAL/Planned Parenthood lobby and vetoed by "pro-choice" Democatic governors. I don't know how these reprobates can pretend to care about women, when so many have publicly testified to being hastily pressured into having an abortion and regretting it ever since.
Noone thinks that abortion will magically go away, and to think right wingers believe this is foolish. If there were anti abortion laws yes, abortion would still happen, but the number of abortions would drop drastically. History shows us that such laws do work. Example: in the 1920's-1930's there were prohibition laws (anti alcohol) in America. Americans still got their alcohol by going to joint's called, if I remember correctly, sleep easies. However prior to the prohibition laws the average American consumed 3 gallons of pure alcohol each year. During the prohibition laws this number lowered to less than 1 gallon (.93 I believe), and the number did not go back up to 3 gallonsuntill the 80's. An abortion is a much more painsteaking process than serving up a beer and downing it, therefore an anti abortion law would most likely have a much more dramatic effect than prohibation laws. You seem to fail to realize that if there is something evil that cannot be annhilhated, we should fight to keep it to a minimum, not let it run rampant. As for my view on abortion, I believe it to be wrong because of my religious views. However if I were put in charge It would still be legal because I do not believe in forcing my ideals on others. Late term abortions, are another story. In my mind these should be outlawed without question. I simply do not see how an individual can have a late term abortion and view it as not killing a baby.
If history repeats it'sself though, the mafia will get rich again. Thye hit thier peak during prohibition and i really don't want some criminal family to get rich killing babies.
Ahhh but in the 1920's and 30's the criminal justice system was not nearly as efficient as it is today.

I am pro-choice and also against late-term abortions..unless that is..if the mother in danger or the baby has something that would cause it to have a bad(not just poor..but horrid)quality of life. For example Tay-sachs(and I mean the type of Tay-sachs where children dont survive beyond the first year and it's a slow painful death). I wasnt too bent out of shape when the partial-birth was banned.I was however disgruntled by the lack of loophole for medical circumstances that would require this procedure.
organized crime is still a problem today... your just opening another blackmarket business... hey in case abortion does become illegal.... u can always call me, ill do it for like 10 bucks.... might not be safe, but ill do the job. all these conservatives are funny... they act like they are the defenders of life and care so much about humanity and babies... but once the baby is born, they dont have shit for them... fuck them now, they are on their own... who cares if the 16 year old cant feed her children... might as well have the mother kill the baby herself, or just kill it when its born... What the fuck do abortion laws solve? Nothing. Why do people get their panties up in a twist over abortion? Do you really hold humans as this highly intellectual species that must be saved from everything... Do you support the caviar industry? Do you support the corporations that use child labor and other slave labor? There are so many aspects in life which take life... and look at how attached people become to the abortion issue. This thread has been going on fer a while... its getting quite lengthy... and i knew from the start it would be like that... why? Because the abortion issue is way overdramaticized by the media... All the debating in the end is usually not enough to change anyones mind on abortion. Anyone could be put in the position, where they would likely choose to have an abortion... anyone... it depends on how they stand economically mentally physically... people that have abortions are not criminals... they do not deserve punishment... neither do people who do drugs, or have sex with people for money... people who murder are usually suffering from psychological disorders... or are missing certain aspects of their brain... people will always murder, because it is natural to have some fucked up people. they are called psychopaths. It is completely different to compare that to those who get abortions, use drugs, or sell their bodies. Murder is one scenario that a lot of people couldnt get themselves into... but things like drugs, prostitution and abortion are things that i think anyones psyche could go through contemplating doing at one point in their life... it all depends on how your brought up... people who do these things are not criminals, they are regular human beings... sending them to be locked up will do nothing but make them feel heartless for the system that brought them there, and anger them more... Recidivism is a problem in america... our prisons arent deturring crime at all... most prisons recidivism rate is high. Free the victims of state oppression.
Paragraph 1: See my above post Paragraph 2: Wow thanks for all of your inaccurate stereotypes of the right wing. If a 16 year old has a child, she was acting irresponsibly. Having sex puts you at risk of having a child, if you do not want a child, having sex is irresponsible. If you want a child and are unable to care for it, having sex is irresponsible. So if some 16 year old decides to make dumb decisions and act irresponsible, then she must pay the consequence and care for the child untill it reaches the age of 18 at least. If this irresponsible 16 year old decides to be a drain on society, then she will not care for the child and the state will be forced to strip the child from her care. For every action there is a consequence, therefore we must take responsibility and choose our actions wisely. If we are to take consequences away from our actions, we lose responsibility and integrity. In turn our society degrades. Subtracting consequences from actions is counterproductive. Abortion is subtracting the consequences from your actions. Abortion is counterproductive. Paragraph 3: nothin important in this paragraph... Paragraph 4: or here... Paragraph 5: The state is put into place to protect the people. Think about it. Also, prostitution is agains the law as is partaking of certain drugs. Doing so makes you a criminal. The state of the US does unlimited amounts for you. Certain laws against drugs and prostitution is it's attemp to kepp the state clean. If an Individual lacks the self controll to return the favor and abide by these laws then the individual has some serious problems and really should realize how selfish their actions are. Criminals should be punished by the state. Paragraph 6: People that commit murder are overcome with hate. People who get abortions were overcome with lust at one time. People that use drugs are overcome with stupidity, desire, and addiction. People that sell their bodies are overcome with lust and lazyness. Any individual that lets such charector trait controll their lives and actions are sick individuals and should be punished and corrected. Paragraph 7: See my above post about prisons not deturing crime. If you honestly believe that prisons do not assist in deturing crime in America you are flat out wrong. No need to even debate it. your just wrong. You havent thought the subject over.
West Point, you fit in the right wing "stereotype". Of course you're just wrong, no need to debate with you.
Wow thats really lame. You guys tell me that I am wrong and do not or cannot back up your statements. I mean seriously, if your going to take part in a political discussion, you cannot simply say, "your wrong". Some politics eh? If you read all three of my posts on this page you will notice that I adressed your statement about prisons not deturing crime in my first post with the prohibition example. The problem that the law adresses is typically not erradicated, but it is greatly reduced. Consequences restrict the actions of an individual. That is a fact. Believeing that it does not, is foolish. As for the nothing important statements, it is true. there was nothing significant to debate in those paragraphs so I left them be. Now, would either of you like to back up your stance on abortion or have you been stumped?
