The perfect music while trippin is psychadelic trance...it is not commercial so not so easy to find but i was expecting people here to know. Shpongle comes out of that scene....what i love the most about it is if you do drugs for the wrong reasons, you can't listen to psychadelic trance, to those arrogant and ignorant people, it sounds like noise! You cannot fake it, so the people in that scene are all there for the same reason....(P.L.U.R) is the first thing you should have within you, only then you can take drugs.

But you guys have heard of it right? I don't know if its the same as what Jaytee is talking about but he pretty much explains it....how many of you have been to an original outdoor trance party?

I would have to go with something like the beatles. I really Like The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - Genesis, its one of my favourite albums (and its all about an acid trip adventure too!).

    Tangerine Dream (German electronic/instrumental pioneers)
    Mike Oldfield (under-rated English mega-musician)
Vangelis (Greek pianist and master arranger best known for "Chariots of Fire")
Nash the Slash (Canadian "mummified" electric violinist/mandolin-player)
Mannheim Steamroller (US act which seamlessly blended medieval & modern music)
Tangerine Dream (well worth mentioning twice)

Those are some of my favorites, for tripping and in general.

SHULMAN. very similar to shpongle, without a lot of the cornyness. smooth beats and vivid soundscapes...very psychedelic.

i totally agree. jungle/tribal is what i like. there is nothing better than an outdoor rave, but kept slow paced (not a rave type thing). deep base that has deep meaningful impact. a meaning that has no meaning but the meaning is complete and fully understand, even though unexplainable. i love that feeling to get lost in it.

    wtf guys?

There is one band and one band only to listen to while tripping. Their fusion of music is unlike any. Their words and lyrics have deep spiritual meaning. Their sound is completely unique to this day, yet inspired so many going forward. Their lives revolved around LSD and a variety of other drugs, while recording, performing and just plain living... They will take you through to the OTHER SIDE...

    The Doors!

Other GREAT notables are Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and The Beatles. Jimi has the best guitar in the world, Pink Floyd is just plain trippy and off the wall, and the beatles had some of the best phsy music ever made, back when phsy music was just becoming a creative artform with an open canvas.

Most of these other suggestions I have found to be music that is geared towards techno tempo and sounds of some sort of hard-core grungish rock. IMO those are quite possibly the worst things to listen to on acid. They can be a shit-ton of fun to do occationally, but definately shouldnt be any sort of mainstay...

    Some song suggestions...

The Doors - Break On Through
The Doors - Light My Fire
    The Doors - Moonlight Drive
The Beatles - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (read: LSD)
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever
    The Beatles - Day Tripper
    Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze
Jimi Hendrix - Smoke On The Water
Jimi Hendrix - Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire
    Pink Floyd - Echoes
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
    Pink Floyd - Money
The Doors - People Are Strange
The Doors - Riders On The Storm
The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows
    Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

    That should get you started...

The stuff that DEFINED the Acid REVOLUTION :)

i like listening to mainly instrumental stuff because hearing words while tripping is utterly confusing and unpleasant. i mostly listen to things like shpongle, bucketheads album electric tears, certain lengthy pink floyd songs...mostly songs that are slow going, ambient, but still keep a consistent groove. i like to think when i trip, and chaotic fast-paced and wordy music makes it difficult to delve into my own subconscious with ease.

You cant beat shpongle for good tripping tunes. Mr Bungle are not too bad either. Disco Volante on the right gear is an intense experience
