And what of those, like myself, who aren't miserable and are quite successful, yet are still frustrated when they see friends do this?

I have a female friend who claims a lot of money pretending to be crazy. She has been given a house, rent free and bill free, and does not have to work. She also gets a spending benefit. She makes as much as me and puts no effort in.

Ironically, she would lose all of this if she got a job. Talk about motivating someone to get back in the real world!

I don't want to better myself, I just want a fair days work equated to a fair days pay.

this sounds like a combination of things. i think it's ridiculous that an employed young adult with no kids is receiving welfare. food stamps, i might be able to understand. but rent, fucking cable, etc. hell no! the canadian system obviously needs a revamp.

also, she has a huge codependency issue, and probably abuses weed and maybe other substances as well. especially if she's a stripper, that's pretty common in that culture.

having had those two issues, the only thing that ever worked for me was tough love and being forced to do things on my own. it was one of the best things to ever happen to me. so maybe you should just tell her like it is and ask her to fuck off until she grows the hell up.

in Pennsylvania , any adult with no job can get food stamps and or younger than adult. stamps are budgeted with the dept of agriculture.
In some sense the idea is: A healthy person is a Well person.. Also it moves food off shelves.. I dont think $150.00 a person is alot either. Some people get more depending on circumstances. considering my wasteful spending and lifestyle I could probably afford to give a homeless person $150.00 a month and not miss it.. I also like knowing people that sell their stamps for cash. saves me money. Win some lose some..:mickey:

That's been taking out of context, you know exactly what I meant. I am content with my life, I don't want to revel in someone else's misery to make myself any happier.

I think Krista makes a valid point, is all. Stealing benefits isn't right.

I get a little sad, since I got cut off of welfare, we still need the food stamps but bc we make $20 over what we should make to qualify. We dont get them anymore. all bc I got married, adn now his income is counted as mine. I dont work, I physically can not right now. but we make below mininum wage, and yet we dont qualify. America can be very screwy on welfare.
Personally I wouldnt report her, it sounds to me like she uses most of hte money for necessaties like bills etc. so I dont know. I dont really get into reporting people even if it seems shady. IT is none of my business. Welfare as some has said, takes up very little of the budget. I have been trying to get disability for over 9 months now, and yet they deny me, bc I havent worked a full time job in 3 years (due to kids). but I still dont see the point in judging others for what they get from the government. If they are getting it, and the government is handing it out, who am I to say that they dont deserve it?

    just my 2 cents.

I had just finished saying this, which you quoted as the part you were responding to...

To which your response was, you were happy with your life where it was and didn't want to improve it... you were just pissy about other peoples lives...

It doesn't effect your life one way or another what that other person is doing.. the ONLY thing reporting them would do is drag them down. Whether you feel you are better off or not, just changes the perspective of your actions... if you are below them, you are dragging them down to make sure they dont get ahead of you, if you are above them, you are stepping on their head to keep them back behind...

Either way... YOUR concern isnt about your life, its about their's...

As for, 'stealing isn't right', neither is smoking pot... you want to start turning people in for that too?

having a job is the exact opposite of being unemployed...

on what basis are you comparing stealing to smoking pot? other than legality, they're two very different crimes.

They are both crimes that do not harm others... They are very similar in that respect...

The only purpose reporting either one, is to damage the person being reported...

do you mean that stealing in general doesn't harm others, or just stealing from the government, etc.?

i would agree to some extent if it's the latter, but i think stealing from individuals does cause harm, even if not physical harm.

You are the one who called the topic at hand, welfare fraud, stealing...

Try to keep track of the things that you say...

This has nothing to do with things being stolen from individuals.

wasn't me. i only have 2 posts in this thread (3 counting this one), and in neither one did i make such an assertion.

that said, i do think it could be loosely defined as stealing, but it is a completely different crime than stealing from an individual, which is why i wanted to clear up exactly what you were getting at.

i have no idea what point you think you just made. you compared stealing to smoking pot, i asked why. at no point did i even mention welfare fraud until after everything you just quoted.

I apologize, you are right, it wasn't you who brought it up... it was the imaginary being who brought up stealing benefits...

However, you are still the one who made the arguments about stealing that I quoted...

As for you not bringing up welfare fraud... THAT IS THE TOPIC OF THE THREAD.

I bolded that, not because I am angry, but to increase it's clarity for you, seems you missed it as the topic...

i know ''ontario works''..the name of our welfare system...it is well within the rules to share an apartment with a friend...we dont disclude someone because they have a boyfriend..and we dont dictate how you spend your money....who fucking cares if she has cable....lots of places have illegal cable or cable included........and before you critisize our system[vh]try to remember which country started to recover from the recent bank debacle... would you prefer we let the homeless problem get like it is in california....cali has lowest credit rating possible...you raised your university tuitions 37% cause no one down there knows how to handle money....worse in arizona...they sold there fucking government buildings to raise cash....we are better off with the system we have that has some seemingly lax reqquirements rather than your system which encourages crime and a blanket on the fucking street.....

that said...i dont thinkop knows what in the fuck the real facts are with the 'girl'...
