But they could've supported gun owners and the people who have the ten commandments on their front lawns. because i think it says somewhere in the constitution that you can't make a law favoring one religion.
I say nay to the aclu because they don't go about things intelligently, I think they just are trying to piss off as many people as possible and make the world the most imbalanced place possible, they do good things occasionally, but they also do really stupid things, and I don't see why they call them selves the aclu (american ......) as they now condemn america, perhaps the national civil liberties union or some such, but that just is after a taxonomy issue as for the femenist majority, from whay I've heard yay, but I don't know enough about the group for that to be concrete, everything that they've done that I've heard about has been good, I just haven't heard many things they've done and I don't even know their mission statement, so tentativly, yay.....
Okay, I understand what you are saying. NeoCon is what he is. And that really isn't old school "Conservativism." But, for bettter or worse, it is what most Americans now consider "Conservative." Actually, Goldwater is a clear example of an old school Conservative, which is quite different than Bush and Limbaugh. But in society, sometimes things, political definitions especialy change. Lincoln was a Republican, which was quite a different thing than it means now.
Well the Constitution says nothing about Assault Rifles. As for the 10 Commandments, the ACLU is upholding the ideal that there should be CLEAR separation of Church and State, which is MORE important, in a goverment which is NOT a theocracy, than displaying items which relate to one form of religion over an other. Let me ask you. Would you want quotes from the Q'Ran on a plaque in front of your local court house or City Hall? How about Quotes from Budda or Krishna? Right there, as you go in to defend your speeding ticket.
i wasn't defending the fact that there shouldn't be a separation of church and state. i just think that if the aclu is going to defend taking a tiny, almost unnoticable cross on a seal of a town in LA. i think that they should also be defending these people. i don't support those people, though. i don't want any religous quotes on any public building. but if there was a buddhist quote on a town hall, would the liberals be in an uproar like right now. i think if the conservatives are going to bitch about their material possesions, at least play with them. demand to put symbols from all religions and creeds right next to christian symbols. i am thinking put a scientology cross right next to the christian cross and the star of david. there was one incident that the aclu represented that i totally disagreed with. they wanted to make a fire station take down its x-mas decorations down. i am sorry if i offended you. work has been hell for the past 2 weeks. the milkshake machine in the burger king has sucked in two of my friends in the past 3 days, and the boss is getting rid of the bathroom and replacing it with another oven.
