Really? Well that was actually a condensed version of the first post I wrote, which I figured would be too long. I'm not sure which part of my post you're refering to, the first being sort of silly, while the second seems right to me.

Here's what I would have done if I was Hitler. I am mainly focused on what occured immediatly after the 1940 French Invasion. At that point in time, Germany's fighing forces were in their prime. There were over 20 Panzer divisions that could have been deployed anywhere. The luftwaffe was still a formidable force even after the Battle of Britain (which was also lost by direct interference from Hitler). And Germany had high morale for the war effort.

Instead of invading Russia, the Germans should have overwhelmed Great Britain (their only enemy at that point). Even if they didn't want to cross the Channel taking England's colonies would have provided the Germans a plethora of the resources that they were so strapped for later on. When Rommel went to North Africa he had only 1 panzer division, while something like 24 were thrown into Russia. If Hitler had used all those divisions to invade Egypt they couldn't be defeated. From there Germany would control the Suez Canal and the Mediteranean, along with the Oil Fields of the Mid-East. They would also be in a position to threaten British India, and perhaps eventually link up with the Japanese in Asia. At that point Hitler could have moved to invade Russia from a position of strength.

But no. Hitler moved to invade Russia before securing Britians surrender. He attacked in the summer instead of spring, another blunder considering that the Russian Army was in shambles because of Stalin's officer purges. They couldn't have been able to threaten Germany for at least 2 more years. And on and on. Bah, I can't believe I'm writing all this. I lost my point somewhere. Oh well, post.

The fact is, Hitler would have been nothing if he wasn't being propped up by the very powerful people who were funding and manipulating him from behind the scenes.

You know, I've always wondered how common neo nazis are.

But he was a crap military leader.

Sure he saw the simple genius behind Manstein's French Invasion when his high command didn't. But after that it was rubbish. He:
-Directed the Luftwaffe to concentrate on bombing civilian populations, instead of the RAF radars and airfields. Allowed the RAF to start gaining strength and get warning of raids, eventually lossing the battle of britian.

-Invaded Russia. Dumb.

-Tried to kill the Russian Civilians. The Russians hated Stalin and the nazis were first welcomed as liberators. But the SS soon inspired a massive guerrilla campaign against the german bases and supply lines. If he had been smart, he would have waited to wipe out the populace until after he'd actually won.

-Kept the Sixth Army in Stalingrad.

-Refused to allow strategic withdrawls at all, losing thousands of troops.

-And the big one. Declared War on the US. After pearl harbor the US would have had no reason to attack Germany, and how could Hitler feel obligated to help the Japanese when they didn't help him with Russia. Dumb.

-Ect.

And I haven't slept in 2 days, so I'm just going to stop now.

you know, my grandpa, the german american soldier, hated him (hitler)more than he hated anyone else. peculiar. because, smart as he was, he really, actually hated people he never met. isn't that wierd?

 

True the original agreement between Japan and Germany was for each to come to the aide of the other should they be attacked by a non-combatant nation.

Not if Japan or Germany were the aggressors and precipitated the attack upon a noncombatant nation.

hitler was definitely a very smart man

i saw some crazy things when i studied psychology about human behaviour.
they took random people and put them in scenarios where one was prisoner and one was guard and they got so involved in their roles that the guys actually started to think they were better, and were treating the "prisoners" like shit. and what about the whole blue eyes<brown eyes experiments! not to mention that study where they had someone electric shocking someone else at increasing levels and the less responsibility the person felt the more pain they would inflict.
