No. It is a longstanding judicial principle in America that constitutional rights can be restricted only if there is a good justification for that restriction.

I can answer any and all criticisms of my stance.

    We'll see.

Essentially you're saying murder is no different from death by a bathtub slip.Sure, the end result is the same for the victim, but the problem for society is different.

Unfortunately, there are people and a powerful organization with armies of lobbyists who want to resist all reasonable efforts to control the mass carnage. It is necessary to oppose those people.

Such as involvement in mass deaths.

I'm sure you can. You seem to be remarkably facile in mechanically rattling off the NRA talking points, as though you've committed them all to memory and play them by your pillow while you sleep

Only if someone can justify a claim that the weapon in question was instrumental to causing the mass deaths or somehow made the massacre worse.

If a massacre was just carried out using an ordinary unremarkable weapon, that is not justification for banning ordinary unremarkable weapons.

    I perceive no difference.

If a proposed measure is unlikely to harm our rights, we'll probably not block it. It is the unconstitutional stuff that we tend to block.

Opposing us is futile. You are free to try if you want however.

You might want to look at what happened to the Obama Administration though. They devoted all of their political capital in their second term to trying to oppose us. The end result was they had no political capital left to push any other agenda, and after six years of a do-nothing presidency the voters were ready for change and elected Trump.

Another example will be this current generation of youth. If they expend all of their energy opposing us, we'll still defeat them. The only result will be that this generation will have no energy left to achieve anything.

But, if anyone wants to oppose us, waste all their energy, and have nothing to show for it, it is certainly their right to do so.

What exactly is your point? The NRA has bought tons of politicians with tens of millions in donations. Do you disagree with that fact?

The NRA is 82 in direct campaign contributions. That puts them in the top 2% of ALL lobby firms (remember their membership is the BOTTOM 1% of the population). Now as you know direct contributions are only a small fraction of their efforts. They also spent hundreds of millions on "expressly advocating the election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate" and by its own records they've spent dozens of millions more on "in-house operations and the outside consultants it has retained." Neither of the latter examples contribute to their top 2% rank.

How do you define pocket change?

I'm constantly astounded at the levels of willful obfuscation. There is absolutely an undeniable statistical link between the number of weapons in a society and the use of weapons. That is born out by, ya know, math.

So, the question is that's either okay with you because for whatever reason that freedom is worth it, or its not okay. There are of course many causes of violence. It's not a simple issue and the variables are not identical in every part of the nation. It is absolutely undeniable though, if things like data mean something to you, that access to guns is one contributing factor

As i said in this context this is just sophistry – how is it rational or reasonable to be unable to answers criticism of a stance while still holding on to it? It might seem ‘rational’ to the scoundrel to misdirect to try and cover up their lying but it still remains lying and would not be recognised in any way as really rational or reasonable.

    So why don’t you?

    LOL well see what?

What a bunch of bs. The point of that type of law would be to curb gun violence. If you believe that because of some social disadvantage some people should be excused for criminal activity, I won't agree with you but won't argue either. But if they're stupid enough to do it using a firearm, knowing it'll tack on 15 years, that's a stupid decision that they weren't forced into by any social disadvantage that may or may not exist. It would drastically curb the mentality that using a firearm in a violent and illegal manner is okay.

No sophistry. If a proposal is unconstitutional, that is a valid point.

Are there any criticisms of my position that I've failed to address?

We'll see if anyone manages to make any arguments that damage my impregnable position.

"We are Borg. Resistance ia Futille!" Mebbe so, mebbe not.

You give yourselves far too much credit, First of all, getting the country out of the economic hole G.W. left us in was no mean accomplishment and one which necessarily continued in the second term. The Iran nuclear deal wasn't too shabby either. Not to mention Obamacare, which, your fractured history to the contrary, was his signature accomplishment and took heavy fire during the second term. Intransigent Republican opposition from day one created formidable headwinds, and it wasn't all about the gun issue. And he did win and complete a second term. Lots of voters wished he was eligible for a third. Not too shabby a record, especially when compared with his immediate predecessor and successor.

In a contest between the new generation and NRA, I don't think the odds are in your favor. Better hope there aren't more mass shootings.

I sure do. Your cockiness will be your undoing--not the first group to think it was invincible and did a pratfall.

Me, too, quite frankly, but I don't think that is ever going to happen in any of our lifetimes.......but one day there me a more enlightened world.......

I see the NRA and all of its followers as an overglorified gang.

There are facts...people who brag about the kill they had made of something constantly.
photos with dead kill and so on....Kind of disgusting, and just shows man as some kind of primitive being that does not know any better.....

but besides that....not only do I not trrust those kinds of people for my own safety.....my heart will always be there for the slain.

I don’t suspect it’ll happen either and I agree about tne NRA. It’s crazy to me how much power a group that pretends to represent 1% of the population (they really represent gun sales) has.

Obamacare was passed in his first two years. The others that you list did not involve advancing any legislative agenda.

By the time election 2016 rolled around, it was a long six years since Obama advanced any legislation through Congress. Voters were tired of a do-nothing presidency and elected Trump to make some changes.

No such intransigence. That is Democratic propaganda to cover up Obama's failures as president.

The reason why Obama had no political capital to advance any legislation in his second term is because he squandered all of it attacking the NRA.

And then he blew it by wasting all of his political capital attacking the NRA.

Not many. By 2016 the voters were tired of a do-nothing presidency and wanted to make a change.

We'll be fine. If this generation chooses to squander all of their energy attacking us, that will merely mean that this generation will not achieve anything at all.
