Yesterday I felt three times a hand on my shoulder. The first time I shrugged it off. But it happens again and I turned to nothing. And it happened again and also nothing. A little later my phone rang and it was my daddy and as I picked up I felt something in the stomach and I knew exactly why he was calling me. Grandaddy had passed away. I knew it. I don't know how but I knew it before daddy even spoke. He said "Joc, your grandfather is no longer with us". And I sat shocked a little, I didn't know what to say because I'd already known it, he was with me and he'd already let me know. That's what I was feeling on my shoulder, that's why there was a hand there. I hope he was letting me know he was okay, or that I was okay. I hope he travelled half the world to come back home with us, maybe even let me know we did good here. I just don't know. I've yet to cry, just such a flusteringly busy weekend.

I think when I do cry it will be because I'm not going to get to go to the funeral. That's what will make me the saddest. Not the best time for this to happen but I just can't get to my family and then back to Europe in a handful of day, if a funeral is even planned by then I'm not really sure how that works, I've never had to deal with this much before.

I don't feel too sad very often for who's died, I always feel sad and sorry for their family so I feel sad for my folks now. That's what tears me inside because they must be hurting. Grandaddy isn't hurting. And he never did. When I asked when and how, daddy actually made me laugh the way he told the story was mom and himself knew he'd passed on the sofa watching tv and they said it was really peaceful. For maybe half an hour he said they just sat and watched tv. Daddy said to me "we didn't know what to do really do you ring police, the ambulance? So we just with him". I thought that was pretty sweet. It sounded very peaceful. I can imagine grandpa, passing and then, I don't exactly know how the spirit looks but if it is indeed human form I swear he stood up and kick stepped his way out the door, found the rainbow bridge and followed it to me.

He was a great guy too. Now the majority of HF would label him the Nazi war criminal but not this guy, this guy was 100% adventure. He fought in the west, Afrika, Belgium, France and Netherlands. When you did talk to him, you'd think his war participation was a comedy club in comparison to my grandaddy in the east. I think until he died yesterday, those years were the best of his life and he was always so open to talk about it at the pub. I'll miss the stories the most, they're always fascinating. I'll also miss playing him in chess. I have all his decorations still, I wonder maybe that's why he connected with me, see if I really was looking after them. Hehe. I'm sure he felt satisfied and then departed our world a strong man.

Thanks Tyr. I'm still influenced by your bonsai conversation we had a while ago. At first light I'm going to buy a bonsai and plant. It will be named Günther.

 

That's a very sweet story of his passing and your parents sitting with him.

My daddy passed while I was gone out to the store with my brother. When I came back from the store I went and sat with him a while; so long that it bothered some of his siblings and they came to bring me back to the front of the house with the rest of the family. There's nothing wrong with sitting quiet for a few minutes.

i probably see the Karate Kid on tv 20times a week. I like the 1st and 3rd.. but the 3rd the most tho.

 

I think the most shown movie is Jaws. that seems to be all over any "classic movie". Hehe. I love Jaws though. =] actually the classic channel has been showing some good movies for one. Alien, Predator Indiana Jones etc. love that stuff.

 

Now that I think of it Aeri, the exact same thing happened when grandma died almost, except I wasn't touched on the shoulder, I was literally grabbed and my name called. And it was exactly the same that when my mom was calling me that day, I knew what she'd say before she said it. But when I was grabbed then it was in a nursing home I was helping my daddy move a friends father into. And I called "ghost" right then and there. This was my grandfathers wife. They may have something in common hehe. Contacting from the other sides. =0

Anyway, I'm going to write a nice letter for him and hopefully it might get there before the funeral. Or it can be placed with him later. that's about the best I could do at the moment.

This a page to my grandpa. I've written 5 pages all up. Detailing everything about me and my life and what he meant to my life. All my secrets. My everything. I'd always hoped one day I'd get to sit by the death bed and talk more about myself with him. Not that I didn't do that anyway or that we had a bad relationship, but as you all know, what your folks don't know about you the better.

I'll old school wax seal this and hope the folks don't try and read it. Not 100% sure if they could even read my scribble. I've also tried my hardest to write this is the older style Deutsch, the one style he was so used to speaking and writing.

I've also written it on very very old paper that I found. It must have been his or the brothers at some stage I feel. Looks and smells too old to even be the parents hehe also found a very old tattered Reichmark with the paper so if we assume it was placed together then... it's been there since... Well the note suggests 1937.

 

I do think that we are capable of reaching through dimensions. It would have to be especially true if you were in the midst of passing from one to the other.

That seems such a perfect thing to do! I don't think your parents would disturb the seal. I'd be tempted but it is not something that I'd ever do. I think they will respect it.
