Hmm. We saw handguns that looked real but we're bb. And we saw a M15 too but was also bb hehe. It was the superstore we went to, not very busy. Umm the Super Centre Atlanta.

 

Maybe they've chosen not to sell real rifles at that location. The Walmarts out here in the suburbs sell rifles for hunting. They keep them in a locked case in the Sporting Goods section.

 

We tried to buy an iPhone there for a friend but they couldn't work out how to sell it without a SIM card. We waited like half an hour but then they seemed to lose interest and so did we. So I got my sharpies and flag and then we left. We just crossed in Alabama now. and I didn't see Faygo at Walmart either. But apparently that's not even easy to find in the US.

Yes! The things we take for granted here! Driving to Alabama for fireworks!

They just recently made fireworks sales legal in Georgia.

 

NC people drive to SC for that. Not legal in Virginia.

Also, SC used to have a lower age limit for getting married without parental consent, so half the people in NC have grandparents who eloped to some tiny little place just over the SC line.

Wyoming here. Just go over the border a few minutes around 4th of July and there are seasonal places. But sometimes the Colorado State Patrol sets up a checkpoint at the border. One year my friends and I thought it was fun to blow up portable toilets with our Wyoming goods. You can definitely get the big explosives there.

 

Ohio sells them but in most cases they are illegal to set off in Ohio. You have to promise that you will transport them to another state in 48 hours. Very few of the smaller ones can be used in Ohio unless you have a license to do firework shows, like for the 4th of July etc.

They have fireworks in Virginia but they are the shitty ground ones. We used to go to PA for fireworks when I lived in NJ. And went to Ohio for fireworks when I visited my friend in Sharon PA

Wow what a day. Everything I expected but they were a LOT louder than i imagined and only like 12 car packs so far. Like 300$ on Merch.

Saw my boy leading a pack and he was good. It was awesome! Got to the grandstands etc. best ever.

I knew it would be loud but not as loud as it was. Basically with the 10 car pack was deafening after a few laps but I thought that noise would have been from 43 cars so can't wait for race day tomorrow.

Also may have been because we were under the grandstand so much more echo. Single car runs on their own were fine, no earplugs needed. Now as I type this in my room alone my ears are ringing like crazy.

Now, what's the deal with the number plates? It looks as if there are no front number plates but we swear we've seen plates that look like advertising with no registration numbers? Lol. And there aren't any reflectors on the roads I what threw me off driving at night.

In Alabama we met a guy at a store when we were buying a friend a phone and his accent... omg. Never been attracted to a bloke so much before in my life. And all from that accent. we exchanged currency and a German flag. as I'm always got one on my bag or in my pocket or my hat. Surprisingly I didn't get sun burned. And also I had a corn dog and it was the best. And they all want to hear our accents. So my friends are stout Germans, but my miss is Aussie and I have that accent a touch too, just more soft. So she got asked to say "thanks mate" and then I was like "no no no, it's... Cheers mate. " and then they were like yayyyy omg. crazy black girls, I'm a huge fan of them just so bubbly with personality.

Other than that it feels like we are foreign still like, we don't fit in. All of us have this gut feeling that everyone just knows somehow that we aren't from here. It's not bothersome though. But we also realize that maybe we look a touch different in physical characteristics. And I've noticed, well on the plane and in the pubs and at the track, that women over here tend to have shorter hair. Maybe to their shoulders? Young girls still have long hair but I've notice just a lot more girls of all ages opt for the short hair. Probably a good thing tbh. But I love long hair.

What else...

Our radio station in the car went "unauthorized" as we crossed borders? Never got the "liquid metal" station back. That was disappointing.

Hmm, oh!! We saw heaps of confederate flags too all up the interstate seemed to be people with side shops on the road, there was an antique store with the flag all over it. We saw like a pit stop area with the flags looked like you'd pull over and photo with it. And then as we went up speedway bvld, with all the wood selling people, lots of people selling that flag. In the track not so many, but I saw this one cool shirt on a girl, it read "tradition, not hate". I lol'd in my mind just because of HF. Like I'd imagine everyone posting a wall of text at how that's just wrong. Yeah, it was a lol. A personal lol. Still a lol.

Now tomorrow, when we buy 4 beers each we add one dollar and we get a bucket of ice with them. Tomorrow we'll be blotto and good cause it was hard holding back because of driving today.

Other than that I think it's all good. I'm really enjoying it. Although I feel a stranger, to me everything else seems normal, I don't feel out of place, I just think I look it. Somehow... I dunno.

 

And also I have so many 1 dollar notes I'm about to ask someone if there's a strip club nearby because I need to empty that out.
