I LOVE Battle of Evermore man, that is definitely a great, otherworldly song.

Falts of the Inexpressible by Shpongle.

Every time I wanna come up on psychedelics. I listen to Star Shpongled Banner on the album, I come up halfway into the song with the best high in the world :D

Both Acrimony albums. They some seriously good stoner metal. Its way too bad they had to break up.

From what I've heard it's psychadelic-y metal, that mostly sounds like modern Black Sabbaths.
    Some of it's pretty good.

The only two I can think of right now is the one he posted and Bongzilla.

That gif you have - you've seen the original asians doing the dance, yes?

Electric Wizard lies on the edge between doom and stoner for me, a band like Sleep is even more a bit of both. I'd say stoner metal is just a vague term for the stoner rock bands that have clearly a more metal than rock sound. Quite often lean especially to the doom metal indeed, but I think people who use the term stoner metal count bands like Orange Goblin and High on fire under it as well.

Clearly there is a lot of crossover between the styles. But both sort have there own stylistic core that defines them. There's sort of a spectrum, and bands typically fall closer to one side or the other.

I wouldn't call Electric Wizard or Sleep pure doom though.

No not pure, but I think they're closer to doom than stoner, and Sleep is a little closer to center of the spectrum than EW.

They're both as "pure" as doom gets without being an obnoxious Sabbath clone. Electric Wizard has plenty of songs that don't mention weed and definitely sound more at home next to Saint Vitus than Kyuss. Sleep managed to write a Lovecraftian epic to weed, with monstrous riffs all over the place.

This is especially true if we take into account Sleep's early discography. Asbestosdeath as well as Volume 1 are closer to sludge than stoner.
