You can't have a democracy if the people are mesmerized by lies simply because they're exciting and make them feel alive. You can't have a nation if it's being divided by paranoia, outrage and fear. You can't hear the facts if the lies are too loud.

Richard Spencer isn't on Jones' level... not even close.

  3. I find it irritating that our entire lives are consumed by sensationalized propaganda that keeps us good, hard working consumers *cough*cough* I mean Americans and people are complaining that some guy lied to them.

Look no further than this whole bullshit Russia fiasco if you want to complain about having a big steaming pile of shit shoveled into your head.

Pretty amazing to think that people like and admire that fuckin' baboon. The plus side of banning him is that he will have a little less influence on those citizens that think-(and I use that word advisedly) he is a good example of a decent human being that is "telling it like it is." He may be worse than fox "news", but that would be going some, since they are the official mouth piece for the present white house occupants and make no pretense at being anything other than that.

Yeah, we all know the stories he's "reporting" on so I dont think thats it
He IS influencing people and in a pretty dangerous way in some instances, you know the parents of children killed at Sandy Hook were harrassed by his braindead listeners

I dont know that you can really compare Richard Spencer and Alex Jones. Does Spencer even really have a platform? I wouldnt know but from what I can tell he isnt anywhere nearly as far reaching as Alex Jones.

None of this shit matters. Is Alex Jones a bona fide shitheel? Fuck yes. Does he pander to the bona fide shitheels? Obviously. Does any of that mean that he should be banned from sites? Fuck no. The man has just as much right to speak his mind, no matter how idiotic & miniscule the thoughts in it are, as anyone else. You don't agree with someone's ideas you debate & debunk those ideas not censor them. The only way for people to see the fallacy behind bad ideas is to get hit in the face multiple times with proof just how ridiculous those ideas really are.

Edit: All you do by censoring someone is to turn them into a martyr

I agree. If someone wants to shut someone up, a debate forum is the best avenue to that end.

I definitely get your point, Mr Horse. It's a conundrum. We pretty much can all say we're against shutting opinions up. Only thing is, when people start acting on his horseshit-----then what? I mean people actually believed that Clinton was running a sex ring for children in the back of a pizza joint!! People STILL believe some of these shootings at schools are fake. I mean WTF? Maybe the banning comes under -'radical problems need radical solutions.' My idea with these right- wing radicals is to show up and LAUGH OUR ASSES OFF. People as serious as these wastrels would hate-- probably more than anything---to be laughed at. Especially someone like Trump.

Well that and debating the close minded and/or dishonest is a colossal waste of time. Their is a reason there are no gun threads going at the moment.

If you present the provable facts, and disprove the disprovable facts, then listeners should have no problem discerning the truth of the matter.

Except that typically isn't the case.

  14. I don't understand how people can hate Fox and Alex Jones on the one hand and like CNN and MSNBC on the other. They're every bit as bad. One sided trollop. Objective reporting be damned.

And now we're going back to the 1950s for Democrats where they just trust the gov't implicitly like a bunch of morons. The ugliest things have ever been was under George W. Then people had a wake up call so we got a do nothing phony president under Obama. Now we go back to Trump and next we'll get a Democrat corporate fascist.

Then the problem isn't with the speaker; it's with the audience. And what can you do about them?

The wisdom of eliminating the audience is debatable.

Why do the same people who think Alex Jones has a right to speak his mind and pump out bullshit conspiracy theories think that social media companies don't have a right to decide what content does and does not go on their websites?

Why should Jones' rights trump Zuckerberg's?
