Meat is disgusting , but for every study about how something is bad for you there is one about how the same thing is good for you. We play russian roulette everyday so do what feels right for you .

    it's quite simple

it's based on a perceptive study of people

    and their dietary habits

    it's qualitative and not quantitative

    no real evidence

if i asked a a group of people to wear black socks

and another group to wear red

one group would likely have a higher percentage rate of lung cancer

when studied over a period of 20 years let's say.

    i would write a paper - hence

stating 'red socks lead to lung cancer' if i liked

    it's daft.

Quite daft indeed. Couple of things, what is dying prematurely, and statistics show that to be born gives you a 100% chance of dying.

Exactly what the Imaginary Being said.
There are just WAAAAYYYY too many variables to take into account for a study like this to make such sweeping and finite conclusions.
What was the genetic background of all the participants and was it accounted for?
    What about other environmental factors?
    How many of them smoked?
How many of them drank alcohol?
I'm sure you good folks at home could come up with dozens of other variables that this study didn't account for.

The idea of doing such research is to eliminate as many variables as possible or at least use a test population that are as identical as possible. Then once ALL possible variables have been controlled or accounted for, then you manipulate the ONE variable you testing.

Plus like the dope mentioned, what is dying prematurely?
We have already extended the average human life span by about 30 years above what it was even a couple of centuries ago. So if people are dying at 40-50, that's about right. One easy marker as to what a constitutes a natural life span is reproductive capability. When a life form can no longer pro-create, it has essentially reached the end of it's useful life span.
    That's nature.

Yup, and if you check the other link provided in the actual article, they link red meat to everything from health care costs to global warming to peace on earth.
Lame study and rife with ulterior agenda's.

The older I get the more I see this issue comes up with all kinds of things.

I do drink coffee. Years ago they said it was so bad for us we needed to drink decaf. I never switched. Years later they came out and said how bad decaf was..... This debate continues to this day.

The same issue with butter and margarine etc.

Over time I find I am eating meat less. Red meat even less. We need to read studies with a grain of salt. For every study that says one thing there will be another study that contradicts. We just need to decide what is best for ourselves and follow our own path.
