Your one of two things is curious. All my life i've heard that only sissys and queers hate sports. I'm Gay and I've sure had the queer sissy thing thrown in my face from school days on. (coach Yonkis if your scum ass is still alive I know about you and Leroy) I don't know who else is supposed to be a sports hater but maybe I'm missing out on good company

Well being a baker and a caregiver and a carpenter is something most people have the ability to do. there is a huge number of people who can do that. now being a pro athelete is something few people in the world have the ability to do.

and people who produce something big do get big money and get famous. think about scientist or inventors? creative people always make big money. if you write a good book you get good money. doctors who preform hard to do surgeries get big money.

if you do something most other can't do you make big money. people who create succesful websites make big money. people who write good books. people who make good movies.

think about the people researching new medicines to cure diseases. they make huge money if they can create something to cure someone of something bad. so it is not just athletes making big money.

don't the most succesfull hard working people deserve the most money???.

and with so many people fat and getting health problems from not exercising I think sports are a good thing.

and you say a bunch of useless millionares running around setting bad examples for kids??? why??? the big majority of pro atheletes are very good examples. you only hear about the stupid ones cus the media is all over them. famous or not people are people. there are good people and bad people.

yes exaclty. the ones who live a normal good family life never get media attention because they are normal. but when one is stupid and starts making dumb decisions they get the media all over them. pretty much if you are famous and you do stupid stuff the media is gonna be on you.

teachers do get big money. just depends on what kind of teacher. doctors get big money. the top scientists working to save the environment get big money. it is simple. the most skilled people get the best money.

I think athletes are very important. they are examples of a healthy lifestyle.

I am honestly not a huge organized sports fan but my kids both are. They follow certain sports, teams and players.

I do feel that on the surface players do appear to earn sometimes a fairly large income under their contracts and also in endorsements.

The flip side of that though is that their careers due to physical demands tend to rather short lived and retirement is taken at a very young age when compared to most other professions. So if you amortize out the salaries based upon instead a regular retirement and career path the amount earned is slightly more understandable.

Ideally they would also plan for that when starting this career but sadly it appears that many do not. Perhaps in part as the age that they start to play professionally is young and like all of us when young, they feel they will have time. Sometimes they do not as a serious injury can finish them in their first season.

if they are so athletic, then maybe they should be fighting the wars the corporate oligarchs sponsor..

Pssh, yeah, I don't have a problem admitting it. I'm totally jealous. I'd love to make that kind of money, except being famous would SUCK. And I hate sports. I hate watching them, I hate playing them, I hate conversations about them in general. Just not something I'm interested in, I won't down anybody else for liking them.

yes! i do always get really pissed off when they celebrate a good personal play that's bad for the team. like, for example, when a quarterback completes a 35 yard pass and then the guy that makes the tackle gets up and does a big fucking dance. they're in field goal position now you asshole! stop celebrating!

like rugor briefly mentioned earlier, the media is really the problem; asshole athletes are just a symptom.

Anytime someone is in the spotlight, people are going to find reasons to hate on them. Look at Tim Tebow. He's a genuinely nice person, and he gets more hate towards him than most of the genuine dirt bags in the league.

I'll mention it. He's either an intelligent person, or he's the tranny who did you behind the sports bar last weekend.

Gonna cut you a break, though, since it was dark and you were drunk.
