I think we only have room for one.....maybe....this is all still tenuous. I think we should start a florida ride-share thread....in fact im going to do that right now.

...and a split Gathering won't be a bad thing, 'cause then everybody will have a good place to park.

To help with the confusion, that the National is not in Tennessee or any other place. Here's the Scoop and this Upstate New Yorker is "Happy" and hopefully will finally get to meet You Zen and others.

    Consensus from Spring Council

Council Consensus today : Gathering will be in Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania....Posted by Rainbow Gatherer at 10:31 AM

    Tuesday Update
Posted by Lonnie Berg on June 9, 2010
As of last night when I left, there were still about 10 cars and about
3 school buses left at the bear creek rec area. Others had gone off to
look at sites and some had dispersed to various locations around the
forest. For now this is still the spot to hit the land and plug in.
There has been informal discussion of keeping camps dispersed and
under 75 to avoid the obvious resulting hassles.Law enforcement presence is relatively light with the PA state
troopers driving through about twice daily.
On Saturday evening after council the forest supervisor and the two
district rangers paid us a welcome call. They seem to be very
welcoming, they came without leos and brought us maps and photography
of some locations they thought would be good gathering sites.
We've worked with some of these people in the past regarding ops plans
and other health and safety concerns for recent regional gatherings,
they seem very much wanting to work closely with us again on
health/safety planning and operational/logistical issues. There was no
mention of "the permit" during this visit.
    Here's their info:
    Leanne M. Marten
    Forest Supervisor
    USDA
    Forest Service
    Allegheny National Forest
    4 Farm Colony Drive
    Warren, PA 16365
    PH: 814-728-6299
    FAX: 814-726-7462
    Anthon y V. Scardina
    District Ranger
    USDA
    Forest Service
    Allegheny National Forest
    29 Forest Service Drive
    Bradford, PA 16 701
    PH: 814-363-6098
    FAX: 814-362-2761
We've worked closely with Tony in the past and he's good to work with
and understands how to communicate with us well.
I have both Anthony and Leanne's cell numbers available on request.
The second district ranger was Robert Fallon, but he didn't have any
business cards available. I believe he's out of the Marienville
    office.

    Directions to Gathering

From Sheffield Pennsylvani go south on Highway 948 for 2 miles
    Turn right onto Road 666.
Continue to Road 116 and turn right
Go to Road 119 and turn left.
    Drive 5 miles to parking.
    Welcome home.

    Height Restrictions on Road 666

There is a height restriction of 7'6" on Road 666 south of the turn off to the gathering. Just an FYI if you're trying to come up from the opposite direction.
If you are leaving Sheffield heading south, you will be turning off
before the spot where the maximum height is 7 Foot, 6 inches. This
is apparently a bridge under construction.
If you're trying to head Northeast on Road 666 from points along
I-80, then this maximum road height will come into play.

    Kitchen/Supply Parking

kitchen/supply parking on south side - fs 209 via yellow hammer rd -
    please drive/park cautiously

I suppose if anyone is doing anything in TN, someone will post directions to it

This is the 1986 Annual Gathering site, and welcomehome sez :
It's not GPS coordinates, but it ought to get you there on acmemapper or topozone. I don't know if you can search by USGS quadrangle names on google earth

'bout 3 years ago there was a pa regional at what i was told was the '86 site, a/k/a "Lower Queen's Creek"...dragonflyfly & cindy & i were there, I posted to the thread about that gathering on here, you could look it up, there might be more site specific information there

Kids these days...when I went to my first Gathering, all we knew about where we were going when we left was "somewhere in Nevada"...Now-a-days, they want GPS coordinates....You want that for Parking, or Maine Circle?

Oh dear lawd this is looking too good. If I can't get any PTO days this might be worth driving to just for a weekend, whatever inconvenient days those might be that week

It is northwest-ish PA. It isn't as far northwest as Erie though. It is about 6 hours from Philly.

Here's the link to the map from Welcomehome. The marker is on circle. It says " N 41.64175 W 79.29434 " Can you GPS that?
