yeah!!! fimo and sculpey on altoid tins rock!!!! just don't cook it as long as you would a bead!!!! cuz the metal heats up and the clay is thinner. so it only takes like half the time. i've ruined too many tins over baking it :( but you can do some really cool stuff with it!! here's a couple pics of my favorites. the first is actually a spice jar lid and the second is one of those valentine altoid tins. and i have to chime in that sour altoids ROCK!!!! the sour orange ones helped me quit smoking ;)

my old boi used to have one that he kept his cheebas in. one time when he was gone i stole it an decorated it. i put this crazy picture of us kissin (its all distorted so you can hardly recognize what it is) and a few other misc. drawings and stuff. covered it with stars and sparkles.

at first he was like WTF but then he grew to love it.

[ what a jerk. never decorated ME a tin! ]

i use my old altiod tins to keep my oboe reeds in...if you put a piece of foam on the bottom...then you put a little strip of foam about two thirds of the way up...and then half way up you put a scrunched up piece (like a toe separator for painting your toes)...glue all that down and you've got a reed case...it works with my bassoon and english horn reeds too...and i'm a band geek

they also make great ciggarette cases...they fun to decorate...i'm making one for my friend's birthday.
and those fimo designs above are incredible! my gosh what talent...my fimo always ends up in a tye-dyed design because i get frustruated with making images and end up smushing it all together.

I like that meditation garden idea, I might do that. Another variation is to take the lids off and put the tins in the ground outside. Fill the tins with compost and make a little teeny herb garden. You could have one round tin in the middle and make the rectangle ones come out like sunrays. You could also get some thin cardboard and draw your own tarot or rune deck and store it in the altoid tin. Oh, another idea is to take some small marbles or beads, have some obstacles in the tin, and cover it in clear plastic and make one of those puzzle things where you get the marble through the baze or across the holes or whatever. You could also be fashion forward and make a belt out the altoid tins, it would look rather spacey.
