Even when I've tried to "play it safe"...my face has always betrayed me. I smile easily and yet I naturally have a true RBF (resting bitch face). The older I've gotten the worse the RBF has gotten. lol I'm now old enough not to give a shit and just go with it. My bff tells me that my face is as easy to read as a 1st grade book, especially when I'm pissed or about to "inform" someone of something.
Oh right, I thought this was a new member Then I saw the post count, huh? Profile -> Display name history ugh
I think so. 'Playing it safe' and 'living a little' can also be seen as synonyms of eachother Living (only) a little? That's for squares!
no. but don't be a complete idiot, which is what expecting aggressiveness to do the world any favors is being. just make sure to calculate your risks and make damd sure they're worth their potential price. remember in the real world you often have to pay it. unlike movies and religious fantasies where 'the good guy' always gets away with it. in the real world too, going to jail or being kicked in the ass is the price of what it costs to make real change, so that's why i'm NOT saying don't ever take a single chance, but if you're going to be an idiot about it, odds are really good of getting kicked in the ass and accomplishing nothing by being so.
the great misunderstanding is that conventionality is cautious and safe. the simple reality is that it is not. just as with the avoidance of causing harm, you cannot be cautious and safe, by hating logic. and hating logic, is precisely what gratuitous conventionality is all about.
it is NOT the avoidance of needless risk that gains nothing which is the problem. it is that the self serving pseudo conventionality of the dominant culture, IS NOTHING OF THE KIND! making an ass of oneself putting others at risk is NOT the alternative logic in the service of consideration, is. (aggressiveness and evil have always been one and the same, and its dominance tyranny, whatever governments, ideologies, beliefs, or any damd thing else is claimed as an excuse for it)
