My home wasn't repossessed. In fact the mortgage is paid up even though I haven't held a steady job in 5 months. I wasn't stupid enough to get suckered by some jackleg mortgage deal.
Not referring to you specifically Zoomie. There are serious points about whats happened in the global financial system .Its all very akin to what we call " long fraud" in Britain.ie promise goods , then run off before delivering. Likewise with the lies that the Neo Con media makes to murder people round the world. Cherea I wouldn't say Russia is really ailing.Sure the Warsaw pact is virtually gone. But a greater Russia is still very populous , large and economically growing. And there's no reason why it couldn't lead an alliance with China or India or Latin America , against America.
This America bashing is messed up, I'll be this first to agree our government is full of self serving a-holes, but when other countries have a problem or need aid, who do they get it from? America gives aid to more countries than you can shake a stick at. When Katrina kicked our but wich one of your countries came to our aid? Well if we suck so much quit taking our money, that will show us. If you want to say our government is f'd up I would agree, but I also think most are. I guess what I am saying is just because I am an American I shouldn't be the target for every person with an ax to grind
Actually what happened (and working in finance, you know this) is that Americans have been fucking their own credit ratings and histories for decades. So the mortgage industry put it's collective dickheads together and developed programs (which the Bush Admin supported and backed) to get people who could never qualify for a mortgage into a home of their own. So people who couldn't possibly afford a $300,000.00 house were granted low interest loans with zero down payment. Then the price of real estate was wildly inflated because new homes were flying off the shelves, as it were. So these unqualified buyers took out multiple equity loans (again, against houses they couldn't afford in the first place). It was a house of cards that came crashing down and took the banking industry with it. People in the mortgage industry made billions of dollars and now we, the people who DIDN'T get suckered into those deals, who are honest and hardworking, who are paying for our homes in a dwindling job market, who are suffering the effects of a recession across the board, have to pay to bail them out. BTW, even though I bought my home BEFORE the inflation of real estate began and when the market bottoms out I may be upside down (meaning I owe more than my house is worth). When that happens I'll give the house to the bank and live in my RV. Fuck 'em.
and that includes HALF of the country, not just me. AT LEAST half of us are furious with bush, and that doesn't count the people who didn't or weren't able to vote for one reason or another. that's a LOT of fucking people.
we took advantage of the foreclosures and our improved credit rating (9/11 fucked us hard up the ass) and got a very nice home for a low price and a decent interest rate.
Are you fucking serious? We should have been there for ourselves... Blame F.I.M.A. and the Bush Admin.
as a descendant of the line of bothered indians, i'd like to remind you, it was people from your side of the pond who bothered us. just sayin'.
i must make you shit your pants in fury on a daily basis, then. i don't really think i know everything. i just talk like i do.:cheers2:
sweety, RT has never been a positive forum. we're a pool of pirahnas. that always happens when people post here. it's just that, seeing with how russia is behaving when so many of us are wanting the usa to stop, we're kinda being painted in a corner again.
Oh, and p.s. I wasn't blaming anyone for not helping, the point was Americans atleast try to assist others
Only cuz we try to looks good and make up for all the stupid shit we do. We need to just throw out the damn president idea, Washington was smart... No alliances, no U.N. just do your own thing. I bet if we had just listened we wouldn't have all this retarded bs going on.
At the end of the day, the U.S. has military bases in Germany, Turkey, The Balkans, The Caspian Sea, The Middle East, Afghanistan, Kazakistan (I think it's still there), Guantanamo Bay, and South Korea- among others--- Russia is literally encircled. And Russia has military bases where?? To say that Russia or Putin is doing anything comparable to the U.S. in terms of hegemonic practice is laughable---.
This is part of the unknown history of Russia since 1989 that the OP was talking about. Very people know that Russia lost about 5 million in population since the collapse of the Soviet Union owing to poverty alone! I believe the Russian stock market is functioning again, but any hiccup in the U.S. financial system forces the Russian government to close trading because of runaway capital. In 1998 Russia lost 50% of its banks because of speculation done in Wall St. and has entered a crisis that put 1929 to shame! Not to mention the fact that Russia faces threats to territorial integrity in at least four regions of its territory. Very very few westerners know this. Because this information is blocked out by Rupert Murdoch and his buddies. What westerners do instead is regurgitate whatever they heard in the U.S. media--- Putin this that. And of course they have a hard time dissociating whatever feelings they had against the Soviet Union and Russia; despite the fact that the two states are as different as night and day.
I like you neponiatka how ever there were plenty of factors that caused global economic meltdown! I do agree though every one should put aside there differences and pick up a pipe and toke
You may be correct on the reason, I am not sure of the actual reason. But if we cut ties (not saying its a bad thought) the same folks that bash us now for getting in their affairs would be bashing us for not helping them. I don't think we should be as involved in others affairs until we get our own affairs in order. Just my thought
