i agree. i don't speak two languages, but i believe i should at least have been educated in spanish or chinese.

instead, i took french. i was one of those, "gonna move to europe" kids. i didn't. and i had no one to practice with. thus, i'm beyond rusty and into decrepit. it IS much easier for europeans to become fluent in at least two languages. i'd say you have no excuse for not speaking two languages. it is a great deal different here. spanish would have been much more valuable, but still completely unnecessary for survival or socializing.

my daughter started spanish in kindergarten. i don't speak spanish, though i can help her a bit since i recognize a lot of it from plain ol' memory and interaction. history. but since we don't know any spanish speakers, despite her best friend's dad being part mexican, there's no practice. if we were closer to the border, i'd be ashamed. but we're several of your european countries away from a border.

Which is created for you... created for you so you won't pay much attention to the actual threats to your freedom and security. Which are Russian in your case. Russian brutal crackdowns on the media should be more of a concern to you than the enemy the Russian media has created 'America'.
