Simply not true in some respects. Western Europeans in general, do not come to America all that often because they have a better standard of living. They come to America usually because of a love interest, to study for a year or perhaps a work abroad for a bit most often. Thge last two for a year or two to see another area of the world. Otherwise, standard of living, benefits and pay are better in most Western European countries. E especially Scandinavia. Ask most Danish, Swedish and Norwegians if they would move to the USA and most would decline. Better in their country (been there too, and it is better there). Australians - never seen one in the US actually. At least in New England. 10 times more likely to see someone from England I am sure. Asians - starting to go to Europe in higher numbers as they see Western Europe has better quality of life, etc. Africans - Will take anything they can get, France, USA, etc. Just as many Africans in Europe, if not more. Face the facts, deal with it, USA is no longer the best place in the world to live. We are seeing a huge decline in immigrants and people leaving their countries to come here, as many countries meet and surpass us in quality of life, benefits and income.
I didn't bother reading this threads... But knowing a whole lot about both countries... Russia is much more corrupt and "evil" in the standard sense than American has ever been.
Actually speaking of immigration to the US , I was very close to moving there. Economically it used to be a long way ahead of other places. I dont think thats as true now. However , now I've noticed certain cultural differences. And find some of its political situations a bit troubling.
That is sort of what I said RM. The past decade especially, America is no where near some Western European nations.
Time for a Rabinovich joke Seriously , don't u feel any regard for Russia? I thought u were from there? ( I know it aint perfect btw..!)
Modern post-soviet Russia is a piece of rotting shit fermenting in a pot of Mafia owned corruption, and empty individualistic capitalist premonitions that only leave the people themselves bankrupt, scared, and confused. Russia should not be a capitalist country, especially under such a blatantly falsified sense of "Democracy". Russia is still in the gutter, but this time we have jeans and Nike sneakers. At least Russians have stopped killing each other, now they just kill others by selling massive amounts of weapons to anyone who has the money to pay for them, no matter who they are.
Here Pavel, have a truckload of wasabi peas. Oops, I said I'd leave this thread cuz the tears for the motherland were pissing me off. Sorry.
Hmm.I think that Yeltsin was an absolute tosser. And Gorbachev just baffles me.Its a shame so much was lost when the USSR ended. The extreme Capitalism there baffles me too. My one grandfather hated Communism so much he left the USSR. But my grandmother thought it was wonderful. Personally I think done right , and gradually evolving , its the better concept. But I grew up a Westerner , so I prob couldn't have adapted.
Well yah, I only really meant Australians... I see plenty of Asians. But from those I have talked to and from what I have seen, they are more aware of how much better some of the European countries are these days. Still lots of Asians. See Italians here and there. Quite a few Brits. But I think the US is a better place to live than England for the most part.
I'll take all the wasabi I can get. Yeltsin was a drunk and had no real power in government. Gorbachev ended the Cold War, good for him. People who lived in the USSR always talk about life there as terrible, and yet they all seem to have really good and positive memories from the time. Even with the breadlines, hate, starvation, and oppression, I don't think that the people ever felt more united. Communism cannot possibly be done right, it ignores bare and terminally important aspects of human nature. It gives us way too much credit. Democratic Socialism is a fun concept though.
And that both systems are rotten. But people shouldnt be all smug and sit in their ivory towers lecturing others , only for their own economic system to be proven to be rotten. Sort of thing... Anyway , America lost the vote. If Ivy votes ,it will be considered lower than DMX:cheers2:
not exactly i meant smth like: i was talking about how fantastic and easier life in russia is becoming when american babylon tower of ingenious and so-called stable economy starts falling
спасибо Я не могу говорить на русском языке мой русский язык - дерьмо ...особенно грамматика! PS I notice Russian has lots of sayings we don't have in England. Some I understand , others not. Do u have the phrase "ivory towers"?
Sweety that started happening about 6 months ago when IndyMAC imploded. Please enjoy your fantastic and easier life, on us.
