reading all this i just realize with some sadness how little you know about russia and its history, aims and policies
i dont want to talk about PUTIN, coz i work with and often meet foreigners and i'm really sick and tired of lingering over this topic
since none of you have ever been to russia (or your friends) it's difficult to discuss this
i'm not a giant in politics, in fact i hate it and seldom read newspapers or watch tv not to get frustrated
it's not the world i wish to live in
one thing i know for sure is that after many years of terror in Russia and then after the crises that followed in 1991 when money became worthless and ppl just used it as paper....all we tried to do after that was to regain balance and make our economy more or less stable, make ties to other countries and keep up peace at least in our own country
everyone just wants to live but not to survive
what i can remember is that we started to live like normal people when on the 2d year of putin's being at power
the crises that is growing now so fast crashes all the hopes and much of what have been done so far
it influence not just russia, but the whole world, dear lovelixmalia...because as i said the economy is interconnected...
russia wont stop the crises since noone is interested in that: when such a situation appears, men at power never miss a chance to benefit from it, boosting it and making the situation harder for simple citizens and profitable for themselves
that's why i think no country will stop that because of the same reasons
all politicians are alike...everywhere

as for americans, i'm sorry to be misunderstood, coz i have nothing against the ppl who doesnt control the political situation
our government is hardly better: it just happens so, that for this very period they are not interested in wars, super powers or plots

as for georgia....i really dont understand how to talk about that with ppl getting info from your filtered press
as i've said our nations have always been friendly to each other (i mean ppl but not politicians, coz again it's the matter of governments) and the first place where georgian refugees fled was russia, isnt it strange for the attacked country?
i also have georgian friends
they hate their government, which is pro-american for now ( an open secret)

I like Putin..He seems fairly intelligent, a good leader and knows what he wants..Yet I don't like all this talk about him coming back to power and Medvedev extending the presidential term for that.

study the history of the transition from putin to medevedev,he created a position so that he could still dictate the policies of russia. medevedev is nothing more than putins puppet now so its not like him becoming president again will change anything..
