They did make alcohol illegal in the 1920's. I don't think drugs are becoming socially acceptable for the most part, I think it goes maybe in slight waves throughout time. cocaine in the late 70's was somewhat socially acceptable. Now marijuana is. There is just a larger population with more access to and about drugs now.

This is empirically false and dumb. Growing weed takes time and effort that most people could easily be doing right now and don't for a reason, it's just easier to buy it at a store/dealer.
