Oops, accidentally posted before I was done. What I was gonna say is, I think those pricks at the head of OSHA and the EPA get a big ol hard on making contradictory reglations where one says you have to do something and the other says that to do that thing is illegal.
In order for our system to have"worked"--we have to have been convinced that we "needed" all the shiny, new products that "they" have pushed 24/7 thru advertising and that we need to try and acquire as much of them as possible. "They" have nurtured us along quite successfully over the last 100 years so that we ,the mass of citizens, have bought into it and spend most of our lives doing some job or other to try and keep up with the latest "big thing". Of course they've fought the working class all the way --the very people that created their wealth. We've passed the "buy in" right along from one generation to the next. That ultra capitalism has thrown our society out of balance every so often, with dire consequences for many, is apparent with a little study of history, including the present period we're going thru. If people don't buy--the industrialists can't sell. If they can't sell they go out of business. If they go out of business--jobs are lost. When jobs are lost--other attendant jobs are lost. It snowballs,as it were, as we see today. The only way this system gets back in "balance" is if we keep buying and working to buy. Is that what most people want? Do we want the money system corrected(somehow) so that we as a society go back(or continue) the work-buy-work-buy treadmill we've been on? Can we break free of the system that pits the owner class continually against the working class? The class that has begrudged any gain in wages and benefits ,historically? (raising the minimum wage would be disastrous!!)Could everyone live off the land again and be satisfied with basic necessities and depend perhaps on family interaction for satisfaction? Throw off the results of what we've been convinced of for so long? Would the owner class allow it? It will not be easy to break away from this system. I'd like to know how the next system would work----????????? Not many mention that the system of unchecked consumerism we have had and that other countries are trying to match--will not work long term. A tipping point --a confluence of over population and diminishing resources will inevitably come. Either you see it or you don't. What's next???
If all the people who are unhappy with capitalism just move to another country where things are run the way they want them to be, problem solved. I mean, all of our jobs moved to China, so why not go to China and get a job? If you are an experienced and educated person with a skill set, some company in China will hire you to run or set up their machines and teach people how to run the machines. All you would have to do is learn the language. It's the people who have no useful education that are unable to move to an area where they can get a job. And it's the people who bitch about our country without doing anything to make it better that drag it down.
Well, I certainly won't mention anything negative about this country ever again. You taught me. Packin my shit today. China ,here I come.
America itsself should be left at the doormat, along with every other country. Ever hear of just being human? Of course not, you would have had to get a license first, which would have been way too much of a hassle.
I have to be in support of a real capitalist economy and not the system that's developed in the US through excess consumerism and greed on the part of businesses. The fact is that while socialism is a nice idea, it really is impossible for humans to accomplish it successfully. There's an unavoidable tendency in human beings for people in power to become corrupt, or to have been corrupt the whole time. In a socialist society where the government controls everything, the chance of corruption is so immense, and the possibility of defense against that is so little, that the system inevitably fails. Capitalism is a much more achievable goal and one that the United States had a much better grasp on a hundred years ago. On a local level, capitalism is in place to provide the people with the products and services which they require. It also requires of everyone to perform a service or provide a product in order to afford the products and services they want or need. The obvious result of this is that certain people garner more money than others by providing a more appealing product or a more useful or difficult service, which separates people into classes but accomplishes all the tasks that the society needs effectively. The problem we have is with the amount of influence the government has on private corporations and vice versa. This causes the government to support the large corporations who have the necessary funds to aid with campaigns, more so than the individuals they represent, and in the same vein the corporations gain power through favoring legislation which often affects small business and individuals in general in a negative way. If the federal government were less influential over the entire country and government could be handled on a much more local level, the capitalistic society would work out much more favorably for the people. Big businesses would be forced to rely on providing a good service or a desirable product to the people in a good and consistent way to achieve success in their business, instead of government subsidies and bailouts. If a business doesn't provide a good service then yes, it goes out of business, and yes, people lose jobs, but this is simply motivation for the workers to do their job well and support the business they work for. Ideally in a capitalistic society, the market runs the market, and the people are able to be much more involved in the market than in the government. If the market is allowed to regulate itself without interference from the government it operates much more fairly. Certainly there are some exceptions to this, like anti-trust laws and health and safety codes, but again on a local level the people are much more able to ensure that these types of standard are met simply by refusal of business. In my opinion the fundamental change that this country needs to go through in order to create a better quality of life for the masses is to reduce the power of the federal government to what is strictly outlined and allowed by the constitution, and for the remaining duties to be taken care of by state and local governments, so that the people have more of an influence on a person to person basis. I do think that people have become too closed minded about the practice of nudism. There's nothing wrong with the human body and it's become such a taboo in america. Any day on tv you could watch people die in movies and tv shows but we censor anything related to sex, that just doesn't seem logical to me.
