America Will Be Great Again

Before Trump won, he was accusing the electoral college of being a disaster for democracy. He lost the popular vote to Clinton and won the election because of the electoral college. After the election Trump called the electoral college 'genius'.

Now Trump claims that if the (disaster? genius?) electoral college didn't exist he would have beaten Clinton anyway and by a large margin in the popular vote because he would have campaigned more in the populated states like NY and CA. Trump trailed Clinton by 1.5 million votes in NY and 3 million in CA. Trump's claim doesn't consider the fact that Clinton also would have campaigned more in those states if there had been no electoral college.

Clinton's popular vote lead over Trump is about 2.7 million or about 2% of the popular vote.
