Those are 2 of the best things that ever came out of America:

    Jazz and Kurt Vonnegut :D

    totaly agree,
and that's what i was trying to say all the this time

    and DSOTM
i said that american culture and history do not exist because there isn't much in it worth mentioning (and take the example from sanja serbia^ that was exactly my point)

In response to your response of my response...

(I had been reading out of a poetry book throughout the day so my mind was a little preoccupied and had a cadence to everything.)

Again - i try to not think of things as nations. Yes, in America we are very pressured to to extremely patriotic and it sucks. It really fucking sucks.

And Again - the history everyone is taught in school's is not the truth about all the, as you put it BraveSir, but is really very Vile. Unfortuantely.

And the people i see act heroically throughout my day are being so through showing kindness and compassion. That's heroic to me. Having the courage to love everyone and to show that love.

Such heroism is much more common outside America.

    Also much more natural.

I've learned a lot about how to live more heroically and honestly from being around other cultures.

I do not think that the American Revolution, and the formation of a government responsible for so much war and persecution are good examples of cultural achievement.

But it is a History worth mentioning, good or bad.

And I am sure there are examples of bad history in every culture and country.

I just do not see the point in putting down any country, culture, region, people, etc.
No one culture or nation is free of a sordid past, nor do they have a perfect record of human rights. If you know of any, please enlighten us.

No, America is not perfect, and needs work. But so does every nation on earth.

This thread is not in order to put any nation down.

It's social criticism and reflection, something we must engage in with the so called freedoms we are given.

I have to disagree, not to say that people don't think that way, cause many do, but what you describe isn't the American dream. Those are just the temporal dreams of some infantile people, not the eternal dream of the land itself.

    "The land itself"?

    What does it dream of?
