sweetie, not everyone wakes up looking like you. give them a break. some people have to retool their faces before they go out.
I believe (as a hippie, and as a naturalist) that we should not cover up ugliness, but fight against it with nature's weapons...that means that if your face is shinning, take time go to any bathroom and wash your face with soap, that takes less time than applying powder or make -up. I wash my face every time I go to the bathroom, water is free, and it doesn't burn.
love, i have been blessed with gorgeous skin (thanks, gramma). it's perfect. i'm thrilled to have it. i care for it with all the discipline my mother taught me. some people, however, need more than just soap and water. and some of us really like having our own version of the peacocks' tail: green eyeliner, pink shiney lips, hair dyed different colors and tattoos of various types. it's a personality thing. it's not always about covering up ugliness, it's about finding that thing you really like about yourself and accessorizing and accentuating it. it's okay if you don't like it, we're not all here to thrill every person on the planet. but don't for one second think it's about hiding ugliness.
*snicker* i actually do have a several very pretty pictures. but no, most mornings i need a good shower first.
i'm finding it extremely hard to form an opinion here based on the fact that pretty much all of what is in this thread is stereotypes so all i say is FUCK STEREOTYPES!!! i could say alot more but that's all i'm gonna say for now, i'm lazy because of al gore too
I don't think it's just american's who care what they look like. We're not all about plastic. I'm sure for some people plastic has been a blessing. (scars, burns, birthmarks, broken nose, etc...) If I had facial defects that could be corrected I'd probably go for it. I care about what I look like but I'm not extreme. Half the time my hair looks frizzy and my make up is hardly there BUT I try.
I travelled with a young lady for about four years, camping and such, and not once did she apply anything to her face, and she looked better everyday than most models after hours of make-up. True, not everyone wakes up looking like a spring chicken, but think what all that face paint does in the long run--- it's like any artificial thing we lean on to cure an ill, in the long run it increases that very illness.
*sigh* you're still missing the point. some people are just expressing their more flamboyant selves rather than hiding anything. i have nothing to hide, i'm beautiful. but i guess those pictures of the wild facial adornments of the 60's, like the little rhinestones around eyes and face painting, really appeal to me. the way indian women wear jewelry around their eyes, the kohl, the frangrances. it's all so neat. i appreciate that you prefer an unadorned woman. i, however, do not.
I used to be more against it, and I think it has to do with religious upbringing, but having read about Krishna even as a child applying mascara around the eyes etc, then I saw the art of it---- yes I understand your point- however, I do love looking at a naked face... fresh out of the shower
i think totally like you..and i think most ppl outside america to..i mean we just laugh at this..all that media shows here about americans ppl is just..well..really stupid..true or not i couldnt care less and im not trying to offend anyone but have you ever wondered that beside being beautiful it also counts what's in you'r head?!?
Who are you talking to in the bolded? Cause I highly doubt anyone here that lives in the U.S. is in movies or tv. Well I think Indian Summer is in a few american movies despite not living here but still....
What if whats in your head is:" I wonder what balsam wood tates like?" (dilbert cartoon) or:"mmm there is sale on shoes in macys today...."
its terrible because now even skinny girls feel fat with what all the atars are doing. its even worse that those people are there role model
Huh? Wash your face every time it is shiny? That would wreak havoc on my sensitive skin. Applying powder takes about 5 seconds, and how is washing with soap and water any more natural than applying powder? Regardless of all that...I've never equated a shiny face to ugliness.
Your skin breathes....ever watched Goldfinger? Everywhere on your skin are pores that release oils and many unhealthy things out.The fact is that walking around naked in the air and sunlight would be heaven to the skin and an antidote to many diseases. By applying powder you are saying "poisons, stay in, don't come out!!" Eventually at an older age your skin pays for it, and your whole body as as well. Even a child could understand this.
