FYI, independent thought is a thought that is "independent" of the republican or democratic parties. Or independent of the influence the media tries to force on the public.

I also have some other stances that are "non-liberal", i.e. I own a half dozen guns. I also raged about deficit spending, long before the cons. I was complaining about it as far back as when Raygun tripled the national debt, when he promised to balance the budget in his first four years. I complained about it when Shrub daddy doubled the debt again in only four years. And I complained about it when Shrub Jr. added more to the national debt than all the presidents before him added together.
I was also one of the 5% of this country that was against the invasion of Iraq.
Here's another "independent" thought...The presidency is obsolete. There should not be one president, but three. One repub, one dem, and one inde. And they should have a consensus agenda.
Here's another...Supreme Court justices should be limited to five years.
And another...Congress and the Senate should not be paid. They should serve the country, not the other way around.
Oh, and no campaign fund raising what so ever. I really like the four week campaigns of Australia. It shouldn't be any longer than that. And absolutely no media commercials. All campaigns should be government funded, with each candidate receiving the same amount, $100k max. And no corporate endorsements for any candidate.
I think the founding fathers would agree with me, rather than either party. I think they would be sick if they knew what government has become in this country.

I don't have a problem in theory with public executions in instances like this, but I don't think we should give the gov't anymore power than it already has. I would be more happy to see community level mob killings.

As far as these people not getting charged with hate crimes, our president is a black racist. So good luck with that. The best thing anyone can do at this point is get a gun and a permit, and kill pieces of shit like this before they kill you or anyone else.

The US Secretary of State gets to sit in a room watching live feeds of Osama getting shot in the head, travel to the worlds hot spots, be greated with more fanfare abroad than most heads of state do.

The Australian equivalent gets to oversee how rice is distibuted in some bumfuq little village in papua new guinea, or how humanely our sheep are slaughtered in some arab country no one's really heard of

The POTUS gets treated like royalty, especially abroad, we need a Qantus jet just for his batmanmobile, woooo cool. Our equivalent does one liners on brekky TV in between infomercials for non stick frypans and life insurance.

I was also against the war in Iraq... was it really only 5% of ppl that weren't for it? It seemed like much more than that to me..then again, I don't talk to any war mongers or anything.
Anyways, just wanted to let you know I read this post and I like it... I agree with much of what you said... I'd write more but I'm not feeling well and gotta entertain my two year old right now so I'll come back to this thread later.
(for example- yes, the presidency is obsolete pretty much... but three presidents agreeing? I agree something else should be done but I'm not sure that is the right option..)

 

First of all I see many vehement reactionary statements. Reaction is not action. You gotta get that shit under wraps. You can't help if you are seeing red. There are no criminals in this world but we have created criminal behavior. What we experience is our own nervous systems interpretation of stimulus. Your passion is not giving you a good view of the world because your heart doesn't know anything of it's own, you tell it what to feel via your narration of events.

We hear a news report and based on that focused attention you begin feel that the whole world is going to pot. I hope so but somehow I don't think my hope is the same as your conviction.

And yea, I don't mean to always appear to jump on the "blame rj" bandwagon. I used to consider myself quite liberal... but I believe that side is using the liberals for their own purposes.
