the US is not a "nation" by the definition that me and my fellow political scientists use.

So, a lot of the "nations" on your list do not help your argument.

I am not against your argument that some of those places on your list may be considered "nation-states", however, the US is unique in some aspects. It wasn't established based on the concept of an ethnic nation etc. It was founded on the idea of a political structure. For instance, Liberia could be considered a nation-state, however it is powered by a specific ethnic group, whereas the US is supposedly "open to all/ a nation of immigrants". I think that is what Piaf is trying to argue.

In those lists, there are BOTH countries AND nations that were established AFTER the US was.

The open to all/ a nation of immigrants does NOT make you unique... Most nations/countries, have people from others in then. Some of those countries (like canada) are pretty much identical when it comes to the diversity of the cultures that make it up.

But all this is totally moot, as what I originally stated hold true no matter which words you use to describe it.

The US is not the youngest country or nation... Feel free to continue to argue the point all you wish, it will not change the facts.

What you seem to be having a hard time grasping is that it doesn't matter if most of those I listed are countries, are nations, or something else you wish to label them... Either ALL of them are not nations or countries or the US isn't a nation or a country, or my argument was right.

Come on guys, let's get back to the topic here. I think the bottom line is, anybody who speaks a language where they don't even pronounce half the letters as written has a priori proven their lack of good sense.

Okay fine. Seeing no further objections, I would also like to point out that it was the French who screwed up English culture by taking over England in 1066, and thereby contributed to the US culture that grew out of it. If it hadn't been for that, we would be a lot better off now.

It should also be noted that France was our original ally and that French financial and military aid played a good deal into the fact we even became a nation at all. So in conclusion the French are once again to blame.
