    nice rant.:cheers2:

sooooooo, where does this leave me?

i was born in canada. my parents are americans. i have relatives who live on both sides of the canadian/u.s.a. border. some of us are american citizens and, some of us are canadian citizens.
since i was born in canada, that makes me a citizen of canada and, since my parents are american, that makes me an american citizen too.
i have lived about 3/4 of my life in the u.s.a. and, i have lived the other 1/4 in canada.

mate, i have seen my share of "fat, violent, lazy idiots" in both canada and the u.s.a. in point of fact; i have seen some of them in every country i have been too.

i'm confused on one point though... if people are fat and lazy, in my expernce, they are too out of shape to be violent.
i have observed, that it tends to be the lean and gung-ho people whom are the most violent and, they also tend to be the dumbest of the dumb also.

As someone who has set foot in the United States, you could not enter the bookstore, but could call out the books you want by title and pay for them at the doorway.

Belittling people is not the way to inspire them. What you're doing is sitting on your ass, talking shit on the internet.
Sounds more like "American" behavior to me.

In rereading your post I noted that you own a bookstore and Americans are not allowed to shop at said store.
One question comes to mind and forgive me if it's been brought up already.
Do you sell books by American authors? And if so how do you reconcile that with your no Americans policy?

    Why would she?
There are obviously no American authors worth reading. The entire country is barely literate.

That a shame lol as the OP was such an easy target. I never will understand how people can carry so much hatred, seems like a poor use of energy that could be used in a much better way. I have been guilty of the same thing but I reserve mine for the person not the group because as we know ass clowns come in all colors and life styles.

Yeah- besides, that French Fry you're wielding isn't likely to do much damage... no wait-- you can force feed! Kill 'em slowly.

I'd reply but I have to quick dial the 1-800 number within the next seven minutes with my credit card ready to get the genuine gold clad commemorative coin depicting Bush dodging a thrown shoe for three easy payments... and by the time I've completed that genius investment I will have forgotten what we were arguing about...

Awh damn I wanted one of those. I should've been watching tv instead of eating these fries so that I'd know they were available.

If we must assume that an author is not worth reading because he/she is American, I must agree with you.

But what if there were authors gifted in literature who happen to have been born south of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway and north of the Rio Grande?

Let me make my case (leaving out many others equally worthy):

Black Elk of the Ogalala Sioux wrote "Black Elk Speaks"

A Sand Country Almanac by Aldo Leopold

James Michenor master of historical novel

Will and Ariel Durant authors "The Story of Civilization"

Joseph Campbell "The Power of Myth"

Wendell Berry - Farmer, Poet and Economic Essayist

    Alex Haley, author of "Roots"

Poetry? Carl Sandburg, Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, Kahlil Gibran, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau

John Muir - nature writer and philosopher

Ernest Hemingway - great adventures in terse vivid prose

William Faulkner - great novelist and storyteller from Mississippi

Edgar Allen Poe - Poet and mystery writer sin qua non

Ben Franklin - Beloved in France and in his American homeland. Best known as a statesman, but had a remarkable wit and literary talent
