The facts in this thread are old and nolonger valid

First it started when some ass posted the video after seeing the old/dead irc channel #opfacebook, and because of the whole idea of it it gained mass attention

90% of the people in there were just skript kiddies, and after it was (FINALLY) accepted a ddos wouldnt do anything, every ~10min some kid would always pop in "we gonna ddos?" even though the irc topic clearly said "NO DDOS". anyway, Within a few hours it was put back to the original idea as it was in april with getting users aware of the privacy violations and quitting themselves. (back in april it went dead a after some time, some new person must have bumped it with a much more extreme thought, to physically take down the servers.)

There was a "news" release recently. Facebook was down for some users yesterday (myself included). Coincidence? Yes. I can't speak for any previous incidence of this, but the first two sentences are factual.

Holy shit... Could they really destroy it so that it never comes back? It seems like the creators could just rebuild it. I guess repeated attacks would make it a bad investment to keep trying, though.
They could just plant a bunch of viruses in it, I suppose. That's made me stop going to websites that I trusted for years. I almost stopped going to deviantArt completely because there were viruses hidden in some of the pages and it either wouldn't load correctly or it would plant something in my computer.
deviantArt is different, though. I would be really sad if that was gone. Facebook, I could take or leave, though it would be nice to have a safe networking site where I can casually keep in touch with my friends, all of which have moved to separate parts of the country...

Ø Maybe me in the minority?
Ø The FB Social networking site is a way of WW communication.
Ø It is how I keep in easy touch with family, (lost now found) friends - Opportunities to meet new friends (with 2 sexual relationships) and those on distant shores to give credence /or not, to News stories.
Ø BUT more to the point, a lifeline for those who cannot get out due to age, health or prejudice
Ø I’m all for Rebellion and Revolution, but in a constructive not destructive way - Sure the network has its issues, but if you don't like it, don't use it!
Ø ANYTHING on the Interweb is open to corruption either by the site owner or other Big Brother monitoring bodies, that is; I feel, obvious - the way I look at it is, I post what I feel and I'll take the consequences with conscience
Ø I do not think those who take pleasure by inputting Virus's are clever, just another way of harming the users - for those who own the sites will only start up again and the losers are, again - the people
Ø - I'm glad that this site allows free speech, though if Anonymous (groups/individual/s) are successful in bringing down the site, what is to say (and who gives that the right) to turn around and select their 'next target' to be this one?
I'm glad that this site allows free speech, though if Anonymous (groups/individual/s) are successful in bringing down the site, what is to say (and who gives that the right) to turn around and select their 'next target' would be this one? - I trust this comment will be treated in its context, or are opinions here too, to be selectively judged?
    Here's hoping
    :)

It's now been publicly revealed that Facebook steals your phone book from your smart phone if you download their app. It then appears as part of your facebook account. By default it copies this data to Facebook's servers without your knowledge...

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/11/facebook-phonebook-contacts_n_924543.html

Yet another unauthorized invasion of privacy by Facebook/C.I.A.

You may be unaware but the Hip Forums hosted some Anonymous and channers here when their site went down. Hopefully they won't shutdown a free speech site, since that is what they stand for.

Let's hope so! It would make Anonymous' attack much easier to have a high level password.

The best we can hope for is that there are number of webactivists/anarchists within the top tech companies to do what is needed when the time comes (if it comes). After all most tech companies have already had security/privacy compromised by secret government contracts that allow the spy agencies to access any data, any time.

This is what Anonymous is fighting, the disappearance of any privacy/security concerns by Corporations. Already they have had a lot of success in getting these issues to the top of corporate agendas.

Funny enough, I shared that Anonymous video from the Fullerton Cali. link on my FB page and oddly enough the title failed to show nor was there any sort of screenshot along with the link, just the gibberish of the url. I guess FB doesn't care much for news of Anon maybe?? :D

If you still have a Facebook account after all the information that has been presented.
Well I hope you rot in some stinking putrid hole.
A hole so foul that not even rabid dogs would not be willing to curl up in and die.

When you continue to use these half-baked half-assed excuses of why you need a
Facebook account to stay in contact with you grandmother and your brother living
in the Artic studying ice fungus.

Well then you're just fucking low life scum that doesn't deserve anything even remotely
    called freedom.

If Anonymous really meant to mess with Facebook, they would just mess with their Banks, not the page,,, I mean c'mon, 95% of the 99% are on Facebook, it's one of their bigger public forum boards in the PR sense, crashing FB would be shooting themselves in the foot, messing with FB's income more directly would be a much more logical route of attack.

The idea just reeks of someones false flag / smear tactic, CIA, privately funded group or whoever wants Anonymous to look bad in the eye's of the majority,,,
