Lots of people don't take their meds. This one went way beyond the perimeter of that definition. I won't attempt to understand until I know more. The cops have not released a motive. They just said they got him. This is getting to be a crazy world. Maybe there is something to that theory of polar shift?

Missing your doses of antidepressants makes you psychotic even when you aren't normally. And, they are prescribing them for everything these days...

One of his prior fares said he was acting crazy and driving erratically earlier in the evening. A woman says she reported it but the police didn't seem to care.

The police say he was calm when arrested.

It’s unclear what precipitated the rampage, although Dalton was acting irrationally and driving erratically prior to the first shooting, according to a Facebook post from a woman who said her fiancé had gotten a ride from Dalton late Saturday afternoon.
The woman posted at 5:33 p.m. that her boyfriend was picked up by an Uber driver named Jason who blew through a stop sign and sideswiped another car. She posted an Uber-supplied photo of the man, who matched the police mug shot of Dalton, and said he was driving a Chevrolet Equinox SUV. Kalamazoo Gazette photos later show police searching an Equinox.
The woman, who has since deleted the post, said 911 was called "but surprisingly they didn't seem all that concerned.”
"Hoping this man will be arrested or hospitalized soon if he has a medical condition causing his behavior," she said. The Facebook post has since been deleted but the Free Press obtained a copy of it. http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2016/02/21/kalamazoo-shootings/80697940/

“He seemed pretty even-tempered,” Getting said of Dalton’s demeanor at the time of his arrest and in questioning. “He did not present in a combative way or an emotional way at all.”

Ah, man.... The police should've taken the report about him a little more seriously.

People shooting each other has been going on for a long time now. Instead of shoot outs in the wild west, where both sides have a gun. Shoot outs are one sided and unexpected now. Same senseless violence in a different form.

^^^ Those reports of the 14 year old's death may have to be pulled, or ignored. They were "old news" before they changed the report to her being critical... I think.

I can't find any new reports to verify 7 people dead. will see what is said tomorrow.

I often wonder if the actual percentage of wackos has increased or is it the increase in population numbers that of course results in a larger number of wackos in the general population.
Couple that with the publicity and information exchange today so more of these wackos are revealed and we learn of ones we would have never known about were it not for modern media.

if it were 150 years ago with my being Ca., it would be 6 months before I heard of this...if ever.

So are there more wackos now than prior generations or has the percentage remained about the same?

WWMT spoke to a man who says he was a passenger of Dalton's just before the shootings started. [IMG]

"We got about a mile from my house, and he got a telephone call. After that call, he started driving erratically, running stop signs,"

Matt Mellen told the affiliate. "We were kind of driving through medians, driving through the lawn speeding along and then finally, once he came to a stop, I jumped out of the car and ran away."

Mellen said he called the police: "He was surprisingly calm, I was freaking out."

Mister T, I think normal people always have the concept of "future" in the back of thier mind when they interact with others during the course of a normal day. With the nut jobs, it is only the present moment that has influence on their ability to decide things. So, it may be a biological defect? It might be social conditioning thing, if acquired over time, where the dude turns violent after so much has happened in their life. I'm no psychologist; but, a trained psychologist should be able to get at the root of the "response to social pressure." A medical doctor could figure it out if it is biological. The "went crazy after a phone call" in the case of this Kalamazoo guy seems to fit in the social pressure catagory?

Social pressure... driven by the media. There are a lot more "scared" people out there, many are on edge 24 hours a day. That does something to the psyche... Add guns, medications, financial insecurity, and maybe a bad girlfriend on the side... Freakout!

If you go to the ABC news link I posted and watch the video. Note that the woman interviewing the cop towards the end is using the word "lockdown"... There's no way they locked down the whole city of Kalamazoo... The cop didn't correct her, he went with it. It's words like this that subconsciously add fear into people's mind, and they don't even know it. Faux News is the worst, but they all do it to some extent. Somewhere in a news story about this shooting the gun was described just as a "semi-automatic" this brings the mind jump for many people to "assault weapon". In reality, it was a pistol... All pistols are semi-automatic unless we are talking some old flint-lock single shot. It's the way the media uses certain words to elevate the situation and the inability for the majority of people to filter it properly.

Getting political for a second, but I don't want to drag this thread off in another direction, the GOP top runners are all instilling fear into people's minds... Their motive is the false pretense that they are the only ones that can save the people. But that's all those guys talk about, the media reports it as fact and the people just lap it up. The Democrats aren't much better, but it's a different fear, they want you to be afraid of the GOP... The people can't sort out fact from fiction...

These are the people that are just fucking scared 24 hours a day... Humans can't feel that way for very long without developing some kind of psychosis.

Have you used Uber? My daughter uses it sometimes.

Uber runs the names of potential drivers through seven years of county and federal courthouse records, a multi-state criminal database, national sex offender registry, Social Security trace and motor vehicle records. Uber rejects anyone with a history of violent crimes, sexual offenses, gun-related violations or resisting arrest. http://www.cnet.com/au/news/uber-michigan-shooting-jason-dalton-background-check/
