Likewise, I have the best doctor. When he's with me it's like nothing else is more important than me.

I think you should do your own reading. Think for yourself, do you believe you really need them? And how do they think they're going to help you?

I dont think pharmaceuticals are inherently bad, but I do believe they're over-prescribed.

I do this with every medicine that is prescribed to me. I simply like to know what Im putting into my body.

I think following advice of a doctor or therapist without being informed is not only dumb, but irresponsible.

It's so easy nowadays to become knowledgeable about not only medication but diseases, disorders, that I dont see a reason why not to do it. I wouldnt take something a doctor gives me, "just because the doctor said so", unless it was an emergency situation.

I think the role of a patient must be an active one.

I would ask your therapist why he wanted you to take them and what they would supposedly do for you. Then I would ask him, why, as your therapist, he's not able do that without the drugs? If he hadn't got a good enough reason for deeming them neccessary, I would tell him to stick them..

Years ago I got to the point that I really considered taking them cause I was in a bad way. But then something in me just really rebelled and I was convinced there was another way. Then synchronicity led me to a book called "Depression Is a Choice" and this really helped me see depression in a new way. I'd say I was rid of about 90% of it within a matter of a few weeks. Later on I would still get a "monthly" visitor, usually during my period and it was pretty bad. At times I was suicidal. Then again, something in me just rebelled and I was determined to heal, to be well... without drugs. And so synchronicity came through again, and through a new friend I discovered EFT (www.emofree.com) and then within about 6 months or so I was completely free of every kind of depression.

I know what depression is... that black cloud that just swallows you up, kinda like the Dementors on the Harry Potter films, who suck out every ounce of happiness you ever had. It is possible to be truly free of this, without drugs. I'm living proof.

I'm not knocking anyone who feels they need the drugs... maybe some do, I dunno. I'm just saying that it's possible to heal without them and those who want to try, I encourage you to do so.

My mom wants me to take the same stuff she's taking to quit smoking... Zyban? Apparently they're anti-depressants... I'm REALLY iffy about it. :(

I would never take antidepressant mind control drugs, but it's up to an individual what they do with their bodies.

All depression and psychological problems can be treated with diet and nutrition. It's lack of proper nutrition that causes most depression in the first place.

Niacin, Folate and Omega 3s are the three natural cures for depression. Oh, and exercise and sunlight (vitamin D).

    Antidepressant drugs are neurotoxic garbage.
