To an extent. However, almost all conceptions of freedom of speech right back to J.S. Mill will recognise that it should be limited in the sense that a person should not be free to act or speak in a way that would cause harm to another or inhibit their right to act or speak. Racism does just that. It excludes people. And violent racism does more than that. Nazis cannot play the freedom of speech card because were their ideas to be realised freedom of speech would be denied to millions. I'm certainly not in favour of giving them a platform. Whilst one might recognise their right to say what they want, one must also recognise that they represent a pole in an ideological sturggle (one opposed to such basic freedoms). Fascists have declared a war against society, society can and must fight back....

Well, I didn't like it so much I'm eager to watch it again, but it has some good dialogue, makes an interesting and realistic portrait of a family with a neo-nazi and it certainly isn't without a point.

 

Their freedom to act upon it in a violent manner is totally different. I believe that everyone is entitled a right to their own opinion, and express that through the means of speech. Like I said, censoring anyone's opinion is the traits of the extreme left and rights. If we censor Nazism then we must censor the opposite extreme of Communism. Communism is just as bad as Nazism yet it is widely accepted.

My point is that the freedom of speech isn't the problem, it's the freedom to act upon it.

 

We should 'test' some hydrogen bombs on them. Just to see if they work.

if youtube took those videos down just because they where racist, i would be pissed off.

me and my BLACK teacher petitioned against my county when they where denying the KKK the right to assemble. its freedom of speech. it means more to me than some people getting pissed off about the KKK coming to town. if the town really wanted to make their point legally, they would protest the against KKK. not illegally deny them the right. either way, the KKK ended up deciding not to rally in my town that year.

 

I just want to make the point (if no one else has -- I didn't read the whole thread) that not all skinheads are racist. It's really dangerous to lump skinheads together. The popularized image of skinheads is definitely of them being neo-Nazis, but there's a HUGE population of leftist/anti-fascist skinheads.

I'd like to see a rally or parade by the kkk or nazis where everyone in attendance just stood quietly with their backs turned as they passed by.Or everyone pointing and laughing loudly.True believers don't like to be laughed at.
