Also I didn't mean to sound like I was recruiting - I just missed the people that made such good posts, and made me love that place to start with. Sorry, Skip, I'll leave that place alone.

Skip - hah, ha, I'm the same way. I'll even be driving down the road and write something down (yea, I got a pen and paper in the seat next to me, LOL). But I cannot remember poop anyway! sorry, didn't pay the cable bill and lost i'net access for 5 days, which was scary. I didn't realize how attached to this site I already am. Also, at cannacom I posted just under once a day, but I post here like 4 times a day. THere's just a lot more to respond to. I actually try to keep my posts low, but packed with meaning;

That is mostly what I meant by the tiers. There was this tacit condescension from a lot of high post-count members toward lesser post-count members. They wouldn't ever take us seriously. There were a cool few who were not like that, present company included.

burnabowl, i kinda know what you mean. when I joined, I just jumped in and after that little tif with Psteve, I tried to ignore anyone who was unpleasant. those who felt they were better for having more posts were sad and pathetic.. one person in particular comes to mind who though herself better, or it sure as hell came off that way. needless to say, she didnt get an invite. we're all cool here..

 

that Psteve is quite a suck ass...he recites rules in everyone of his posts..he should get his nose out of the managements ass. haha..it is funny

No, they are not listening to us. But like any money-making media enterprise, the interests of the publishers may not necessarily be aligned with the interests of the audience. They want to make money, so they need sponsors, so they will make changes to meet the needs of these sponsors. It may be diappointing to those of us who feel a sense of belonging to the community, but it should not be surprising. What I wonder is whether the new business model will really work. I always thought of this site as being about the Forums, but that aspect of the site seems to be de-emphasized now. I wonder how much of the traffic to the site was to read off-topic subjects and have a good time, and how much of that has disappeared now that those topics are banned. Seems like if you can't provide that kind of entertainment, then maybe the traffic would stop, and maybe the spnosors would just go away again. Then the owners woudl be left with nothing. I'm in it for the long haul --- I want to see what happens. Will it survive or die?

There is a senior member, whose name I dont remember, and a mod who bash liberals openly and severely, and when the conversation turned to anyones ideology that didnt comply with theirs was shut down, no explanation, no discussion. There was a thread started by this senior member on anti-abortion and "facts" apparently he had compiled to show why he belived abortion needed to be abolished without a woman's right to choose. I add connotations to the word fact because his post is what a typical bush- supporting, hypocritical, overtly self-righteous my-way-or-the-highway ideology which is typical of a southern man would view as the truth. Im ashamed for him to hail from my state and a fellow pothead. His post was so factually incorrect and full of just plain stanky crap, and when anyone tried to inform him otherwise, *poof* your post dissapeared ever so conveniently..
there were threads openly bashing anyone with liberal political beliefs, but when you fired back, you'd get an infraction or a ban. If you can give shit, you should be able to take it without running to mommy.. My posts were kept on the light side for the most part, and the time i did give my POV on the abortion issue, I was given a warning and a deleted post which didnt involve a personal slam, just the truth. that is what we had to deal with..

 

Also, guys, there are asses everywhere. I just met one here. You know, one of those who thinks that since his post count is a zillion, that he knows it all. Not mentioning any names... Just look at my posts, I'm sure you'll find him, LOL...Or he'll find you...

For the most part, he's the only one I've seen here with such an attitude.

And Skip, what Hilder says is true. It took me aback, when I first met them, because most stoners are relatively liberal individuals like myself.

 

Just to let you know Skip there have been people banned from that site for posting views that go against one of the Mods. This happened even before the major changes. The other mods are aware of what is going on.

You can express contrary views if you are careful. But if you annihilate one of the Mods conservative stances, you will likely be banned.

I never would have thought a weed smoker would be so staunchly conservative. It is like a religion for him.

Most people here know who they are and do not pay any attention to them.

I know this is in the context of trolling conservatives, but in general is it more preferable at your end to have a higher number of threads that aren't as long rather than fewer threads containing more posts?

 

you would think a moderator would moderate without his views being a deciding factor in who is in the right in a specific situation. I think to mediate efficiently you have to be unbiased in your decision to chastise someone for their post. Even if the other poster who was politely pointing out the correct facts was slammed because he didnt or couldnt accept otherwise. youre right, dont give these people free advice they dont deserve. i love the Ad a couple posts up.. its funny, yet so so true.

It has been a problem. its sad really. in the close to three months Ive been a member, Ive ben contacted abotu 6 times. honestly, I post in the sexuality forum, all in good fun. that doesnt warrant creepy guys from contacting me and asking if I like to get pissed on.. cybersex does nothing for me. just a warning to those who want to try. dont. you will be ignored.
