I think that it's a beautiful attitude. Try to work things out, but if they don't... be ready to accept them.

You are strong, wise, and defenatly a good human. Being good never did work well in this world, but neither did being bad. You can be a saint or a monster... but shit's so coincidental that it will still happen no matter who you are. Just do not let it get in the way of you being a good person or discouraging your spirit... but I'm sure that you won't let it do that.

Yet again, I hope everything goes well for you... if people do "deserve" something in life, then you defenatly deserve to be acquainted of this.

If they give you ten you may get out in 5, (parole). Yeah cops suck, and when you have charges like that, they'll bullshit and lie you into a confession so they can get an air tight case. They'll do it without your lawyer present. Which is against the law. I suggest you find out what your rights are!

I got arrested for trespassing on some guys ranch--I didn't know it was a ranch, I was way out in the mountains. I built a fire and went to sleep, about midnight the cops showed up in a fire truck, put out my fire and hauled me off to jail! Bummer! I spent 35 days in jail before finding out from other inmates that you could post bail! I posted bail and got the hell out of jail ( you think the cops would have told me!) went to court and paid the fine. Those fuckers would have left me in jail for 6 months till the trial if I hadn't found out about bail from the other inmates! Cops suck! You have to know your rights.

Yeah, the cops railroad ya, they arrest ya, say you have the right to remain silent, and then ask you why you did it! I told that cop I had the right to remain silent and didn't say anything more!

Wow...that is horrible. I'd be scared to death if I were you. Good luck with everything though.

I've been to court quite a few times and was in jail for a weekend and that's it.

thats why you dont leave the scene of an accident. period.

let that be a lesson to you.

people usually run from a scene of an accident because they are either drunk, or on drugs, or have something in their car that could get them in trouble, or they have no insurance, etc.....

its not good to run from the scene of an accident, period.

Unless that sentence your about to get is a hell of a lot worse than just fleeing the scene of the incident. Of course, if someone is injured, that isnt always the wisest of choices. Then again, the debate in your head, take the chance of saving someones life, or take the chance of spending 20 years in prison. Eh eh?

Never been behind bars but I was in court for something when I was 16, won't say why...

I'd rather not talk about my experiences, but if there's one thing I learned it's FIGHT THE SYSTEM!!! Fight the fuckers and make them work for it. Get a good lawyer to make their jobs as miserable as possible. You can plea bargain to lesser charges. If you haven't already then don't plead guilty up front, don't say anything until you get your lawyer to try to get you a deal. I was quite amazed at how many options they have if you know how to use them, but maybe the American system is different I don't really know how it works down there. Either way get a good lawyer, even if you have to pay a pile of money it's worth it for your freedom.

Good luck with everything, I hope you beat the charges :)

Yea, no shit  Like I dont already have to live with the hell of knowing that I fucked up everyday of my life. BTW the 2 reasons I didnt stop immediatley were 1. Insurance issues & 2. I had no idea what happened.
Everyone else, thank you so much for showing that people you dont even know in real life can actually care for someone, I havent even been told good luck yet by anybody I know personally :)

hey Relayer, you should ask your lawyer if he can find out if they tested the guys blood for alcohol or drugs... even if he was knocked out seems like that would be a major part of your case.....

well unless you waived your arraignment and your preliminary hearing.... but if this is your first court date then your most likely just being charged with a hit and run?

Well, the lawyer had me excused from both preliminary trials, and he told me last week that there were no immediate actions or dates pending on me, but I got served yesterday, so I really dont know at this point.

I almost swear I remember reading a thread about this awhile back. Wow, man, best of luck. Hopefully the American Justice System will finally do something right...If I was on that jury, I'd definitely find in your favor, and I'd hope any decent human being would as well.

then its more than likely your getting charged for a hit and run type thing and that the guy didnt die.. if he did wind up dieing and they are just now getting to you your lawyer should be able to get you out of anything too serious.. as long as your like remorseful or whatever... I dont know Id have to talk to my mom but honestly thats what it sounds like is going to happen.. plus if you do wind up with getting 10 I think you can appeal it and keep going for a lesser sentence..

Getting arrested sucks, i've been arrested three times, lucky for my ass i could always get someone to bail me out. Court always sucks ass man, anyone who's been to it knows, waiting in a cramped ass courtroom so many people, just waiting to get a punishment, sucks major ass. good luck in court man, i'd go out with a chair chuckin at the judge, if he sentences you to ten years.
