Yeah TV's quite boring, and night clubs can be nice if your with good friends
but I agree it gets redundant.

But all in all TV is the big problem.
Psychologicaly, TV abuse makes you uncreative by shooting tons and tons of images, leaving no empty space for creative thinking.
Physically, TV abuse can lead to a lack of exercice.
Culturally, well it depends on what you watch of course but the mainstream culture is rather bland.
Polically, it's easier to shoot propaganda on TV.

Actually TV has the reverse effect than meditation has.

So down with TV and it'll be a big step!!

Well ok then. You can all go out and live in the woods. I will stay here and play with all the stuff you left behind. When will you be leaving ? I need a new computer but can't afford it. I'll just take one of yours when you all go live in the woods. Have fun with it.

    Peace

not at all, there is always something different and exciting, I love to look back on hstory. Like today, Im going to alex's (wastingthedawn) house to play with kittens and go to a teahouse. Thats fab. And not too modern. So it isnt all television and nightclubs.

I agree with Cate. Just becaue our world is ridden with all of these things the OP talked about, doesnt mean have to partake. I havent been to a nightvlub since I was 17 and got tired of em. I watch mabe four hours of TV a week, and its mostly PBS. We can make or break our own existence by walking the unbeaten path. just because something is placed in front of you and is the easiest or most popular way doesnt mean you have to follow. be a leader, not a follower and a world of change opens up.

If you are fed up with modern society...move.

There is a whole world out there that is not the USA or Canada.

When you step off the plane in many ways you will step into a new reality.

Then you will see what is truly beautiful about the USA and Canada.

Easy to say you want things simpler. What no one tells you is that when things get simpler it can complicate your life in ways you only imagined.

But even as you step back to a less modern society you will see cell phones and Internet. They might not have running water and wash their clothes in the river, but technology is everywhere.

I love my gadgets. I want my video camera, computers and stuff.

TV sucks and is a electronic income reducer. I have no need for TV.

Yet living in Central America with all the modern convenience...I still cant get decent ice cream or donuts within 6 hours of driving distance from where I am. Sad but true.

At least I have cheap weed and fresh organic fruit every day.:)

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    Hehe. :)
