The democrats have been using that excuse, but it's not for lack of support or the tea party. It's because most of them are bought off.

Analysis | About half of Americans support single-payer health care

A new poll found that a majority of Americans support a radical change to the US healthcare system

Democrats would be stupid not to embrace single payer as a core component of their platform.

They are in NJ. Murphy has put more new taxes into effect than in the Beatles song Taxman.

Which is the part that baffles me.
(Christy closed a bridge let's shun everyone close to him, what? He wants to raise taxes on everything? As long as he dosnt shut a lane on the bridge that's ok)
Then there were the pot heads who voted for him....still waiting to see how that turns out.

So far not well. He introduced a bill and wanted it passed before legislative recess but the Dems don't seem to want to touch it.

And the dems are always terrible at firing back at the petty, childish name calling the republicans resort to.

Just one of the many things that make the democratic party beyond useless and ineffectual.

It's all about branding. Is Campbell's the best soup? Not even close. But it's the most popular. Same with bud and beer...although there is more behind that one. And coke with soda.

Recently I was going to make a post about how people post gifs when they can just say what the gif says. But you have taken it to a whole new level. Do you really expect me to watch a whole movie to see what the point of your reply was.

An excellent point. I'm reviewing it now to find the time range.

It begins at exactly the 1 hour mark. 1:06 is for Campbells.

In figuring out what to do to make a comeback, Democrats need to be clear about why Trump Republicans made headway among the white, under-educated male voters that formed the core of Trum's base. The "Left behind" theory attributes it to economics. These were people who experienced stagnant wages and job loss due to decline in manufacturing and mining jobs, so to win them back, the Demos would have to focus on lunch pail issues and the economy. A recent study by Diana Mutz in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences casts doubt on that thesis, and presents strong evidence that instead it's a response to the status insecurity of white male voters to the gains made by African-Americans, women, Muslims, and immigrants at the perceived expense of white (especially male), Christian native-born Americans, and the perceived decline of U.S. global dominance resulting from the rise of countries like China. Status threat, not economic hardship, explains the 2016 presidential vote
It's hard to see how the Democrats could attract these MAGA voters without outbidding Republicans in the areas of nativism, racism, sexism, and nationalism. Demos might take comfort in the fact that this component seems to be a dwindling 40%. But that's what makes the Trump base panic.

Democrats need to educate the voters that living under a Republican controlled government means you will always be poor, powerless, and have no medical care, and have no legal recourse in the courts. One of my relatives went for a routine abdominal surgery and the doctor accidentally cut her main artery to the heart. She was sent home according to the insurance company rules for that simple surgery. When she got home she bled to death. Under Republican imposed laws in Indiana, her family had no legal recourse. Another of my relatives, after 38 years on the same job, had twelve operations on his arm, at the direction of his company doctor, because the matter was a work related injury. When he went to court, the Workmen's Comp judge tossed it out, because of Indiana's laws. Under a Republican government workers have no rights. Workers could be fired for any reason, without legal recourse. Under a Republican government pre-civil rights discrimination is back. Under a Republican government environmental laws provide no environmental protections at all. The Democrats need to get serious and once in office should consider legislative retaliation, after the conduct of the Republican party during the last four years. Democrats need to remember what Republicans did to Merrick Garland.

I think the Demos need to print your post and run it in their campaign ads!

But all this is known if you pay any attention to anything at all.
It's hard to fight the republicans because they lie so much and few people are smart enough to realize it.

Democrats don't lie, cheat, and steal to the same degree as the Republicans so they're at a natural disadvantage.

Very True, MeAgain. We just can not rely on word of mouth information sharing. The Republicans have issued directives to prevent federal employees from speaking with the press AND The American Public. The Republicans have altered FCC rules to allow Sinclair near total control of news reporting. We all know what their news twisting is all about. I don't have to add anything about ClearChannel.fuck, and Primier, and FOX. We're just going to need better information sharing. The Republicans know we can put together effective protest marches so in Indiana they passed a new law which allows cops to shoot protesters on the streets. The Republicans are also reactionaries, so they do confrontation counter protest...to paint liberals as violent protesters (Fake News?) Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco do great protests. Now we are going to need to activate Liberal Democrats in cities like Milwaukee.

You begin to make substantial progress when you accept that both sides lie and cheat. Trying to cope by suggesting that one side is worse than the other is accepting one brand of bullshit over another. We have to be just as hard on one party as the other. The one we let slide, you know, cause of feelies and such, will lose their edge and become careless.

Obama wasn't the first time I voted for a democrat and he won't be the last. But watching him pull the same bullshit Bill Clinton did on the drug war made me realize that some democrats can charm the pants off, of me!

My advice to democrats is to outdo the republican offerings. People really do want jobs, so offer better jobs instead of the mediocre "jobs" that seem to pop up like magic (even though they don't net the average worker what they need). I also think the democrats should establish stronger policies regarding art. Right now both parties only see art as an investment, like a food stamp hanging on the wall that's worth 600 kilos of caviar. America should not have artists living in poverty (or worse, making 6 ingredient coffee for people who majored in money, law or technology).

One other thing I find puzzling is why the democrats have allowed the republicans to own the gun issue. The democrats look like an army of Chihuahuas nipping at the heels of the NRA, trying to hold them accountable for shit done by people who weren't even members. I have no doubt that democrats could work the problem with the NRA-esque movement, from the inside. The shift from today's gun hysteria could be accomplished in 3-5 years.

Democrats will have to put on their "tough on crime" faces for a while. Changes are needed. Trump won because he saw the bigger picture and worked far more angles than any other candidate. The Clintons played their tried and true game, failing to realize how old fashioned it has become. Seems like she and Bill would have modernized since her last shellacking in 2008. Who KNEW the race card Trumps the gender card?!?!?!

Finally, education. The democrats control it in a very big way. It's time to ramp things up. Bring back failing, vocational training, PE for every grade and a circuit of guest lecturers who are honored to address at the district and individual school level. And NO, they don't get their regular fee (though I think they should still be paid something, at least enough to cover expenses, a sack of killer buds and maybe an escort (or just hotel movie rentals). Regardless, our kids need to see famous, accomplished people, in person, regularly. AND for God's sake, bring back art. Cash in the losing athletic teams.
