I don't do shopping anymore, I instead sign people up to subscription magazines. I don't have to get off my arse, it gets delivered by someone else and I feel like I've done something. Subscription magazines, best. present. ever.
I haven't even started. I really don't have many people to buy for though. My wife usually does most of the gift buying. But I have decided that the few things I do need to buy will not be bought at a mall or box store. I hate those places. I'll spend my money at small "mom and pop" stores owned by local people.
I don't do the consumer holiday thing....But I don't begrudge those that do. To each their own I say....
Done. I have an awesome video of me shopping. I just can not post it as I am on a Tablet (there is a joke there somewhere)
Shut your mouth!!! A video of you shopping? That sounds thrilling. I'm on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see it hahaha. jk I'm sure its awesome.
There is an element of mystery to it too. I'm not in it (I'm holding the camera) and it is not me buying things for Christmas. But it still has a festive theme - kind of. I shall post the awesome video later. Merry Christmas x
I haven't even started. I am living in Korea now, and although they celebrate Chistmas, I don't think they do gifts.
i'm right there with all the "i don't believe in forced holiday presents" people. but, ever since that mothers day that i was too busy to buy a gift before the day itself and my mom cried in my face for about an hour, i haven't missed a commercial holiday gift. that said, i have yet to start my shopping this year. although i just have my parents to buy for, and my dad is super easy (i just get him some fancy food from the grocery store on christmas eve every year), so i'm not too worried. actually, i did already shop for my work christmas party. that was just a gender-neutral $10 present that got randomly distributed though, so all i did there was run to walmart the day of the party and grab $10 worth of candy that i put in a box from work and wrapped in some flyers from work.
She cried for an hour? :O Wow. I buy just for the kids in my family and not much. I'd love to start just taking the kids on some trip somewhere and have that as a tradition.
this was many years ago, so i don't remember the actual length of time. i just know that it was a serious tear-storm. an hour is a reasonable guess.
ya, was done with christmas "shopping" a few years ago. i don't "buy" the whole "christmas shopping" con job. it's artificially created consumerism, disguised with religion and fake altruism. the day after xmas, right back to dismissing all aspects of the "christmas spirit". oh, except the commercialism. that never seems to fade.
I Simply Made A Donation To The RSPCA, "Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals".... Cheers Glen.
