I'm just in a happy mood and being realistic. Lovely ladies of HF, feel free to join in and agree with my words.
I wish we could be more like this. I still want to pretend Santa with our 2 year old. I only buy a few presents for my husband and extended family members. Friends get cards and if I'm feeling super generous I may get my BEST friends a few things but not really, that's what BIRTHDAYS are for But to answer the main question, I have a few things to buy. Our son's presents were put on Layaway after Thanksgiving . We got them out a few weeks ago.
My dad and I finished all of my mom's things today. Now I'm on my own for him, my sister and my boyfriend. but I'm probably gonna order him some Saints garden gnomes. or gnome tree ornaments. my sister is an idiot, so I'm not sure what to get her
It really was... I work at a grocery store and some of our classics there are My Heart Will Go On, the Friends theme song, the Winnie the pooh theme song, sometimes the song Woodstock. But since thanksgiving it's been christmas music, by every person you can think of
I agree. Odon is handsome. I got everything done yesterday except a gift card from my tattoo shop for my secret Santa. I'm picking that up tomorrow night. Then I'm done shopping!
you know, i mean i feel a little bit guilty about, now that there ARE people i COULD "christermas shop" for, but basically its been decades since i've ever done anything of the kind. its kind of been the exception in my life that i've ever really had a whole lot of occasion to. reciprical of that of course, i've likewise not expected anyone to do so for me. there are other things for the season to be about, BESIDES retail feeding frenzy OR religious fanatacism. little things like peace, love, and the kind of world we all have to live in.
I'm done. I shopped on-line. I only have to buy for my two kids, their partners/spouses, and 5 grandkids. It's not too bad.
I don't remember what day I first posted in this thread but I still haven't started shopping. I'll get it done. I always do. But I usually hate it.
I've always struggled with the idea of introducing the idea of christmas to kids if I were to have any. I still live with my parents so I still go along with tradition, but I hate the tradition of celebrating a secular version of christmas. I'm not religious; I find christmas unnecessary. But I can't get over the idea of my kids at a young age not getting the same experience I had, and that everyone person I know had.
I am not finished with my Christmas shopping, but I am on my way to finish or die trying. Wish me luck.
:sunny:I forgot all about Christmas. I suppose I should go to amazon.com and shoot a coupla presents to my daughter and sisters. They're all I get presents for, anyway. If I want something for myself I just buy it..usually a Kindle book or amazon.com online video TV show season, but now I have Netflix online. It's so nice to relax here in Thailand. The city of Nakhon is just now starting to string streets with cool light displays since their main holiday is New Year's. Our school is open Dec. 25, but we have games and plays all day for the kids. Much worse than teaching... I get Dec. 30-Jan.1 off though, so off to the island beaches for swimming and birding for a couple of days..maybe. Might stay here and keep birding in the Khao Luang National Park mountains
Right now it seems the better option. Now I'm at the freaking mall. People are driving around the parking lot as if they were swimming around a pool...There are lanes people! BTW, anyone have suggestions on what to get parents who are almost 80 yrs old? I'm waiting for a response from my wife about her suggestions before I go in. Help, I am desperate!!!
I usually get it done in November but this year my fiance messed up my streak. At the last minute he wants to get his grandmother something else and we're going to give the gift card to his best friend. I thought a gift card would've been a good idea for grandma because she never likes anything, but on the other hand it looks like less effort. So a real gift she'll never use it is!
